Omegle is dead. What's your thought about it?

After 8 years without login in to Omegle, I suddenly find out that it has been shut down, a few weeks ago.

I personally think the website was infested with creeps. Also, not sure why the creator never didn't tag it for 18+ from the begging.

There are some things I miss from the websites and other things that are a living nightmare. Overall, I believe what happened to Omegle is a double edged sword. Lief K. Brooks stated that, but, it was like justifying the continuation of a rotten house full of termites.

It was meant to be a webcam chat site for people to meet all over the over all over the overall, but obviously there is predatory behaviour going on, with this site. I think authorities will shut down any site, that has predatory behaviour against children, and there were children going this site.

Sites like omegle don't have enough safety procedures or safety measures to keep predators away from vulnerable people. People should go on sex sites if they want to do pervy things in front of others, and its just for adults. I am not talking about predators in this instance, they look for children, no matter what.

If it was 18+ from the start, claims against Omegle, would fall apart, but from what I know, Omegle was always open to admit underage. That was a huge a mistake. Any website, or any company that openly has to do with underage individuals, needs to guarantee the safety of each one of them.

Never went there. Do think it's a shame that they were getting flak for what rando's were doing, like there's any real time way to stop that.

Ironically, Omegle was far safer than most of the active similar sites.

It didn't beg for name, it had an age limit, it didn't show your location. It never did beg a Google or Facebook account. It somehow guarantee your privacy. Similar sites nowadays, collect your data and expose you more.

Yeah the problem was the age limit is too easy to get around... and kids seeing too many dicks is what ultimately brought about the lawsuit that killed them. Seems poor legislation in my mind... like suing the panel van company because some creep said there was candy and a puppy in the back of it...

I mean, many kids always trick those chats security system. It's virtually impossible for a chat to assure full protection for kids.

I think it's easier for a parent to shift blame on a website, like if a website is capable of assuring their kids safety at a 100%. Not even the Police can assure it.

Exactly, but we'll blame the website not the parents? No, not comfortable with what at all.

I agree. Omegle, even though it made wrong choices with its policies—alouding minors to login and chat with strangers—, it was also a dinasour compare to several apps and other websites. That's something many parents didn't took into consideration, when they sue the chat. Omegle capacity to create interactions is nothing but basic, compared to apps like IG, TikTok, etc.

It means that their children are even in higher risk of interacting with others online.

Let's see how the Law evolves with the internet. I think the wild wild west of the internet era is fading.

I thought it was a person at first whom I also didn't know anything about.
