Has anyone been a lifelong windows user and tried to switch to Mac?

i’m never going to fully switch because I still need windows for games, but I’m being thrown for a loop somewhat with this Mac user interface. I’ve heard that it’s more intuitive and people like it more than windows, it’s only been two days, but I don’t agree so far. I’m still kind of confused.

No. I use all 4 OS's on the daily and MacOS is among the worst. But it's an acquired taste for the few that really use it.

Most people just buy Mac out of habit, not out of any particular use. I had a couple of architect clients give up Mac when I showed them they did not need to suffer under Apple, and the alternatives were much better.

You can use CrossOver if you have a decent spec Mac and want to run Windows games. But a lot of teams are making Mac versions of some games as well.

I'm a long time Windows user since XP and am currently on a "castrated" Windows 10 with disabled spyware and system updates. I was kind of fortunate to use a Mac, that was provided to me by a company I worked for 3 months. Not, that I was interested in using a Mac but they simply sent it to me to use for work.

I wasn't impressed at all. Mac is not an option for me. It's ugly, not intuitive and not to my liking in user experience.

On my previous job the laptop came with Windows 11. Windows 11 is completely garbage to me. Windows 11 is actually mimicking Macs but with Windows under the hood and by mimicking Mac it introduces the same dislikings I had with Mac and it's objectively overall worse than Win 10.

I'm looking at switching to Arch Linux sometime later. I only need a new and modern M.2 SSD to get Arch Linux on it. Then I need to figure out how to get access to the Windows formatted disk drives from Arch Linux with read and write access.

i've always used both (at home, when i was in college, and now at work). i'm okay with either. tho i do think i prefer PC

I switched once and totally regretted it. Now the Mac sits in the closet, gathering dust.

I am or was a longtime MacOS fan (started with OS7) and Macs and its OS have always been fun and really intuitive. With OSX this changed a bit (more features, but also more loops). Today there is sooo much browser based work that the importance of the OS GUI has diminished. Compared to these disgusting Windows 8++ GUIs, MacOS is of course still lightyears ahead. If you are a gamer, stay with Windows.

No, so unfortunately, I can't offer any directly helpful advice- but as someone going in the other direction, from Windows to Linux, keep at it! Even the small bits and pieces you pick up add up.
