Was this bad computer advice?

I built a gaming pc a couple of months ago. Lately it's started making random clicking noise. Like once every 1-2 hours. I read that it could be the hdd, but my pc only has an ssd, so that can't be it. I called the computer shop in my town, and asked if he's got an idea what it might be. He said that on the top of his head, he has no idea. I asked if I could bring it in so he could look at it. He said that since it makes the clicking sound so infrequently that what he would do is just run it until it makes the sound, but he'd have to charge me for the time he'd do that, which could be hours. He reccomended that I keep using it like I normally do, and if the sound becomes for frequent, then bring it in. I think this is kind of common sense, but if I run it until the sound becomes more frequent, then many other parts could be damaged. Then id be replacing other parts rather than the one that has the problem. What do you think?

Did you connect the internal speaker? The one that beeps on boot up. If so disconnect it and see if the beeping stops.

Also disconnect CD drivecif you have one installed.

I just realized it was my ups backup battery making the sound. It's directly under my pc so I thought it was my pc

Could be a trapped cable hitting the fan could be feedback on the speakers, or a hundred other things. Just no way of knowing until you either get a recording of the sound or its location.

What other parts would be damaged? It's not that clicking sounds are contagious.

just once seems fine. repeated clicks is a problem. i assume no dvd drive. but if have check it is empty.
