I’m trying to figure out whether i should spend money on a new monitor or many games cuz monitors are so damn expensive that by the time i get a new monitor i won't be able to afford games!
And no cheap good gaming monitors exist. I can’t find any!
I would say any upgrade in hardware comes first. A new monitor will make everything you do that much better.
@Jessica405 how do i afford games tho? There’s no good cheap Monitor
Save up. It will be worth itbin the long run.
@Jessica405 the newest best monitors are like around $1k to $1500.
If you're considering buying a $1k monitor, you need to take a financial course. There are severe diminishing returns on anything above $200.
@Ironic_Method all good monitors that are cheap aren’t actually good, and i want the best to make it worth but i won’t be able to afford games afterwards
Define "good", because I can't think of a single reason to pay more for a monitor unless you need one of those ultrawide screens which are generally terrible for gaming.
@Ironic_Method i thought a lot of pc gamers love ultra wide? Many Gamers say it makes it more immersive. I found this 39” 21;9 ultra wide LG ultra gear gaming monitor on best buy that has really good specs and it’s the newest came out last month in march. But it costs like $1499.99
Not at all. Most games don't even support ultrawide.
Again, you're considering paying $1500 for a monitor that you can get for $300 or $500 for a higher end (for a gaming ultrawide). What specs are you looking for that justifies an extra $1k?
@Ironic_Method all the good popular games support 21;9. This monitor it’s the newest, it’s 240hz, it’s 0.03ms, OLED, curved, HDR400, WQHD, NVIDIA GSYNC compatible, 3440 x 1440p
Those are the same specs as the $500 one.
Also, I hope you have a great GPU and CPU if you want to try and hit 240hz at 4k.
@Ironic_Method i never found any good monitors that cheap. Especially with great reviews. I just upgraded my pc in February with the newest 4080 super and An intel i7-14700k. Also i said its 1440p not 4k
I think you're missing the point. Imagine spending $1500 on a monitor and thousands on other hardware to not have 4k.
And then be like "I can't afford a $60 game."
@Ironic_Method i buy games on sale Yk? Who buys games at full price regularly? I want a curved good hz monitor but every good hz and resolution monitor is either 1080p or 1440p. And 4k is expensive! I want a good refresh otherwise what’s the point?
I'd say the monitor first. Doesn't cost anything to replay old games while you save up for more. boyfriend and I upgraded our monitors last month.
You don't know what you are talking about if you think you need to drop 1k on a monitor. Especially when you don't have money.
in what way is the new monitor gonna be better than what you have?
@genericname85 it’s 3440 x 1440p, it’s OLED, it’s curved and ultra wide 21;9, it’s bigger. I currently have two 24” 1080p monitors. They’re so obsolete now.
@genericname85 it’s also 240hz where as my current ones are only 144hz
honestly 4k is not really worth it for a gaming computer. cause you need MUCH more powerfull computer hardware to even game on this with more than 60 fps, which would make having a 240 hz monitor a complete waste.
like if you have a powerful computer and you also use the same machine to consume a lot of media, i'd say the OLED is gonna be an awesome upgrade.
in games, you stop noticing he difference between 4k and full hd fairly soon. i personally had the issue that my eyes got snobby in media consumption. most of the content on the internet is still full hd and if you saw a movie on 4k, full hd will look like SD compared.
i personally have tested all of these different things. to me personally, 144hz is 100% worth it but 240.. I don't know man. i mean it's noticable but by far not as much as the jump from 60 to 144.
4k: sure if you got the power to push that sort of fps in games. or else it'll suck and you'll find yourself lowering the resolution to get playable framerates and i'm not even aware of a current gaming pc that can push 240hz in tripple a games to date. like in cyberpunk 2077 for example, you'll barlely get 100 fps with a freaking RTX 4090.
oled: totally awesome. if the contrast and colors is important for you, go for it.
@genericname85 why does everyone think it’s 4k? I said 3440 x 1440.
Also i upgraded my pc 2 months ago, i have a 4080 super and a intel i7 14700k now
sorry wqhd i only noticed the first number didn't notice that it's an ultra wide. yeah then you should be good. in that case it's probably worth it.

you can get good used 1920 monitors on eBay for $20 or $30, or refurbished at Goodwill for around the same price
That must be total crap! So cheap!
