Should I get a gaming laptop or a gaming desktop PC based on details below?

So I already have one regular laptop and desktop for regular uses. I want to get a computer for gaming but I rarely leave the house.

The times when I do leave the house and stay somewhere for a few hours, or stay at a family members house like my sisters overnight or for a few days I get incredibly bored and want something fun to do instead of sitting around watching boring TV shows with them or talking to them about things I'm not exactly interested in.

Get a gaming laptop now and get a gaming desktop PC later down the road.

It all depends on your budget. If you have $4,000 to spare, then by all means, get a gaming laptop with a high end nVidia RTX4080 or RTX4090 graphic card that will require you to have 2 power units to cope with the massive energy requirement. Also, you would need at least 64Gb RAM and a minimum of 4Tb SSD or even better, M2 drive.

If you only take your rig outside your house, then get a gaming desktop based PC but you will need an extra monitor to log around. You can get a decent desktop PC for under $2,000 with the same GPU power as well as a 1,000 Watts power unit to cope with a RTX4090. Problem is that a desktop PC is much bulkier and also heavier.

plus, you said you rarely leave the house. and when you do, it's only for a few hours over overnight and i feel like you could find something else to do in that time rather than game on a laptop. lugging that around would also be annoying

The other user thinks the gaming computer is better than the laptop,. If you never really leave the house then get the computer but get a lot of ram and speed. But I’d recommend that you get out of the house to clear your head to do things plus exercise and do social activities its not good to be a indoor shut in 24 hours a day

If you already have a computer for everyday stuff and a laptop suitable for decent games, I wouldn't get either. I'd get the latest up today games console as they are always one step ahead of computers.

get a gaming laptop... because you'll be able to use it at both home, and also on the go, and it will solve both of your problems as of right now

and, since you mention the option on your poll... you could build your own gaming PC little by little, getting the parts in parts might be cheaper and also more convenient, performance wise

It depends what you really want. Desktop will be much more powerful with similar cost of laptop. So it's just your decision if you need to pay for mobility or you prefer better machine

To be fair, What you will spend on a decent gaming laptop, you can get a PC twice as good, for less cash.

If you do travel. then you can make a mini PC to take with you instead.
