Do you trust self driving cars?

Would you trust the self driving technology to take you places or does the idea spook you out?

No not only as tech does fail but also the logic used in them can result in fairly bad crashes. Also once pedestrians know that auto cars will react, they can simply move in front of them, cyclists can cause horrendous traffic jams by riding in the centre of the road or just off centre and the car will not try to overtake, but if they program that in the sensors need to react to front and rear ‘threats’ at the same time. It’s a hugs area of not required, first major crash would result in recalls and class actions.

not at this point, but I predict that by the end of the decade, they'll be just as reliable as human drivers if not better.

I'm going to remain on the fence for now..

Part of me is terrified of the consequences, of terrorists' ability to hack in to the mainframe computer brain of the car and divert into, well anywhere they want!

Hackers get in to phones, computers even house lighting.. basically ANYTHING that connects to external sources, so why they think cars are going to be any different worries me.

What about you Yogi? Do you have concerns too?

I personally don't feel safe with the idea. So I will prefer to walk rather than get in a car without a human being controlling it.

I hear you.. Thing is, if they go out of control, will pedestrians be any safer than inside the car?

Not the fully autominous ones but the ones you have to have your hand on the steering wheel and they follow the lane markings and use radar to slow you down if the car in front slows down etc... I've been in and they seem to work well
