1, why would a programmer make the SAME command for FOUR different commands?

2, imagine i want my computer to change a word to "bold" letters so i hold "control button" while pushing b... if that command was ALSO for THREE other things... any of the 4 options is obeying the command... the computer "picks one" but can't know WHICH the user desired... that is stupid programming but THINK!

3, the way to check to see time or date, is 'swipe down' slide finger on phone.

4, the way to see total number of tabs to move among them... off screen so must "swipe down"

5, if i am reading and want to SEE higher, see the preceding paragraphs i must "swipe down" each of these desired activities is SAME command...

6, but phone can't know which... of the FOUR was desired so...

it RELOADED the page when i swipe down... every time i want to check the time or SEE the preceding section or see the tabs... phone can not know which is desired except by command...

even if i can switch off one, no reload, the same command is STILL for three! as above,

7, how frustrating is it to you when phone does one of the other 3 options?

In earlier times printing text would one command and printing a pic would be another command. Not so silly because the code to print a pic will be very different to that for printing text. It is just easier to remember PRINT then have to remember PRINTTXT and PRINTPIC.

I think the problem here is there are limited number of finger gestures so a swipe down has to be semantically overloaded. However from your list it does seem rather silly. Especially swiping down to see higher up in a document.

It should be able to do better at context. How would you solve this problem of needing 4 finger gestures?

a solution as i am a tec guy, is like MAPS when you swipe one finger...
it says "use two 2 fingers to move" then you can move and see paragraphs above or below , if you use 2 fingers.
for reload the circular button , IF tap to reload not swipe!
3 , to see tabs need a menu like a gear or 3 lines, tap it then see the other options to choose : "see tabs, or show time" and a menu of options!

those things should be contextual... so if you are reading, this context should come first...

but if you read the web page, you have to watch where you swipe, so you only scroll the page not reload it

so you give the context choosing the place of your action
