Why doesn't the dishwasher dissolve the dishwasher tablet?

I have run the dishwasher twice on a short programme (44 minutes) but the dishwasher tablets do not dissolve

Could be you've not cleaned the dishwasher (yes even the dishwater needs to be cleaned annually)

Could be low heat, due to old dishwater coil needing replacing.

Could be low dishwasher water level or pressure, due to clogging in the arms or water inlet (could be cleaning or service required).

But could also be the tablet not being unwrapped properly as some manufacturers have taken to wrapping individual tablets in slow dissolving starch wrap.

Is your dishwasher not dispensing the dishwasher tablet or is the dishwasher tablet dispensing but not dissolving? Is this a recent problem or ongoing? When's the last time you've cleaned your dishwasher? First thing I'd do is give your dishwasher a good cleaning then before using, turn on the kitchen faucet and let the water run till it's hot. If this doesn't work you can try liquid/gel dishwasher detergent.

short programmes mean that. they're short.
most dishwasher tablets need a standard cycle which tends to be 40 mins plus. also worth checking the heat options.
