Landlines work when the power goes out because they are on a separate grid that is much more stable, they also lack most of the annoyances of modern cell phones, such as updates, internet dependence, spyware, having to recharge it, dealing with people sending you files or e-mails you didn't ask for, needing an e-mail account at all to use it, etc.

Some landline phones also look way nicer than the ugly ass smart phone slab design thats so popular, and have better sound quality, and because they can't text it forces people to actually call, allowing for vocal tone inflection reading so you better understand them.

I also feel like cellphones and apps are why online shopping has killed most brick and mortar stores, something I'm not thrilled about...

I get that most people like cell phones, and see what they offer as benefits, but I just don't see the appeal of them, they are overpriced garbage in my opinion and I'd be happier without them.

Every benefit a cellphone has over a landline is done better by:
1. A satellite phone or payphone.
2. A desktop, laptop, or tablet computer.
3. A dedicated handheld gaming console or handheld gaming pc.
4. A GPS unit or Map.
5. A dedicated mobile hotspot.
6. A professional camera.
7. An analogue compass.
8. A physical note book.
9. A professional audio recorder.
10. A compact portable HDD, SSD, Flash, or NVME drive.
11. An MP3 player or Radio.

For me quality supercedes convenience. A cellphone may do all of that on one package, but it does all of it worse than the devices that are dedicated for those tasks.

Hell no. I've ripped them out of most of my customers' houses too. I only have two customers who still have land lines, and one of them is a business line. She actually likes that she can only answer it when she's in her office - she doesn't want to move it to a cell phone.

I got rid of my land line in 2002, and I talked my parents into getting rid of theirs in 2012 - it was literally just being used to receive spam calls. Many of my customers had a land line because they had gates on their properties that were primarily controlled via phone line. I've replaced all of their gate controllers with Doorbird controllers which are controlled via Internet, so they could finally ditch their land lines.

Yes. It's part of 300Mbit FTTH internet connection contract. I don't want to change this contract so I keep it.
20-30 years back, landline phones had their own power supply over phone cable pair. Even if power network collapsed, making calls was still possible. Today with Voice over IP networks everything goes down without power. Land line phone as backup isn't really a thing nowadays.

I still use a land line. It's the only phone I have. I have never made a call or texted on a cell phone.

I just never saw any convincing reason to switch over. I'm in front of a computer all day every day. When I leave the computer, I want to get away from it for a while, not carry one around with me.

I have a landline and the cell phone. A landline is more reliable and I need to be able to count on it every day for important work. If the power goes out or I lose the cell phone or the cell phone stops working, whatever the problem is, I won't be able to take care of business for a while and that could be very costly.

My house literally does not even have a phone jack installed anywhere. I couldn't use a land line, even if I wanted to. Fortunately, I have no such desire. My cell is more than enough.

Yes. I kept my families long time line. Everyone has that as solid base for emergencies. It came in handy during earthquakes and wildfires as the cell towers were down for both.

Nope, just a smart phone. Some of my friends and relatives who live in Northeadt US still have land lines, which still work during power outages and storms, fairly common in winter.
