Why is there so much ads on YouTube nowadays?

Which browser? Assuming you are using Chrome like most people (although any browser has this). Download an adblocker, I'd suggest Ublock origins. Looks like a red shield.

It is free, lightweight, perfectly legal and no more ads on youtube or other sites. If you somehow want ads on a site, right click and allow it for that site.

Ah. That is sadly a lot worse than two clicks.

If you are on android there are a good amount of options, some apps, apks, and alike.

If you're on iphone, honestly the best thing you can do is uninstall the app and use the webpage with an adblock in mobile view. There are still workarounds, but the gist is that while it is illegal for youtube to prevent you from accessing what you need to skip ads on a browser, their own app lets them do just that. And Iphone especially with its restrictive app policies lilit your options.

It's googles way of annoying people into forking over money for YouTube Premium which allows you to watch YouTube videos ad free. I remember when 30seconds was about the max for ads, now I've been encountering ads that total over a minuet long. Don't know if anyone else noticed or not, but the amount of YouTube ads seems to be worse on my TV then they are my laptop.

We subscribe to YouTube Premium to avoid them, which I guess means we did exactly what they wanted...

If there were no ads, you'd have to pay to subscribe to YouTube so you could watch stuff on it.

The problem isn't that YouTube has ads, the problem is YouTube has too many ads now. Used to be, most ads would be 30 seconds max, and many ads had the skip button, now I'm seeing many ads that are over a minuet long, and the skip button has been replaced with a next button. The increase in ads is google tying to annoy users into signing up for YouTube plus.

Actually, it's not to get users to use other sites, it's to get users to sign up for YouTube premium. Google is trying to annoy users to the point, they finally give in and subscribe to YouTube premium. Google is even cracking down on ad blockers in an attempt to get users to either deal with the annoying ads or sign up for YouTube premium.
