You also had the highest road fatalities, poorest drivers and poor car reliability stats of any generation, gramps. So don't toot your horn too loud, else you will choke on it.

Also, why the fuck do you think gatekeeping cars is the right thing to do?

A navigation system is brilliant, keeps you on time, and you don't need to be checking the radio for traffic updates like when you were a "no beard". Not to mention having to ask people on the street, or opening out your "paper map" like a muppet, when you got lost!

Dashcam/360 cam is why there is a lot less road crime and unpunished accidents. When you were a no beard, you would cry down at the pub for having to pay out of pocket because of a hit and run. Now that fucker is downgraded to a "payout and jail time in progress" while you go about your business.

No heated and vented seats are why you are a graybeard before your age, with a stiff back and fucked knees. By making the seating more comfortable, you improve the blood flow while you are sedentary in what is a very stiff driving pose.

Remote start means you never lose your keys and don't need to fuck around finding them or replacing them, Sure it's mostly an American gimmick as here in the UK it's illegal. But keyless cars do have a lot more convenience if you're constantly coming in and out the car like a delivery driver.

Cruise control comes in different forms Adaptive, Semi Auto etc. But it's a godsend if you do a lot of long distance driving. I've driven across much of the UK and Europe, and could not have done it without cruise control to improve the journey between places. It's not a tool inner city drivers will use much, but long distance ones will.

One reason you graybeards were pavement pizza, and cut out of cars so much, was your love of fiddling with tapes and knobs so much. I mean I love a good car sound system as the next lad. But not at the cost to life. A heads up display means you can not only change tracks and stations, but do so without taking your eyes off the road and causing accidents.

Manually adjusting seat/mirrors settings is why your generation was always in a fatal accident somewhere. You are not called "boomers" simply because of the babies. But you literally would hear "boom" from a boiler exploding, car crashing, or something breaking nearly every day...

Cruise control is about the only creature comfort my truck has. Vinyl floors, manual trans/locks/windows/mirrors. Installed and good radio and nav unit and would like heated mirrors so I could use them in the rain, but that’s all I really need.
Car is a little more cushy but I don’t need (or want) all that new tech crap

Agree with others. None you list are important. It's not essential but radio/bluetooth/music system is probably the only non essential convenience that I really miss not have.

I grew up without any of that crap, and out of the listed options, the only one I even use now is cruise control, but I'd hardly call it essential. I didn't have it in my first couple cars, and I'd be fine without it, now.

The rest of it is just gimmicky crap. My current vehicle has all the bells & whistles, and if you took them away today, I wouldn't even notice.
