The one modification I would add is to get a pen and write on the back of the photos when and where they were taken with maybe a brief sentence on what was going on that day

Then you can inserts photos in the book and also write texts if you also have a pen.

Then you have tapes for recording video and book and pen to write texts.

I think booth those options can be good.
With being able to go for either photos + text or videos + text.
The Polaroid option has the advantage of being able to collect both pictures and text in the same book, compared to the Camcorder+book alternative where video is stored separately from the texts you write in the book.
Also a Polaroid camera seems like the more portable and convenient option compared to a larger camcorder.

I voted for the Polaroid + blank book option.
If you for some reason are not allowed to write in the book in that option and ONLY use the book to insert photos.
Then I would lean more towards the camcorder + pen and blank book where you are allowed to write in the book besides recording videos.

I think being able to use a combination of photos and/or video and text is good.
I mean technically you can use signs, notes. whiteboards and such and show them in pictures or video. If doing video with audio, you can also talk about things in the video, sort of like a vlog or documentary.
But being able to use photos+text or video+text would be easier then just using one of them.

Seems like the camera blank book combo is hard to match! I'd take pictures, caption them with the date and the setting and then if it's really worth elaborating about, in it goes into the book of stories~
