There is no possibility of "Skynet". There is ALWAYS an element of human programming or direct control in all military machines.

Sure, the tools and aesthetics may make them look "automated". But the reality is that these "tech bros" are fucking control freaks. You really think they are going to make something that can work without their input?

Kidding. I think we are at the early stages of an AI takeover. However I have heard of an interesting theory that it won't take over the world Terminator style but in a manner like Wall-E where everyone is so spoiled by it that we cannot do literally anything without it, even think. I am not sure which is scarier to be honest.

I, personally, do not believe AI will go in that direction at all. I think (eventually) people will learn how to use it wisely like any tool.

Jurassic Park? Really? I would sooner believe in the reality of The Fly before we cloned dinosaurs. I think you need to analyze what a human brain is capable of before you start believing that we will purposely cause our own downfall without the wisdom to make a failsafe option

This kinda thing gets me heated so apologies in advance but you’re now subject to my ranting. In order for us to create a skynet, it would require not only the existence of an artificial intelligence algorithm that acts independently and without express consent from its creators (which does not exist), but also has a mind as complex as the human brain itself which we have NEVER successfully done because we’re still figuring out what all the brain can do. We have never successfully created a computer system even a fraction as complex as the human brain on a technological level, let alone an artificial intelligence capable of malicious intent. Not to mention what we call “AI” is NOT artificial intelligence, but just a bunch of algorithms. They don’t have any kind of consciousness. The closest we have come to that is Sofia, a robot designed to mimic human social cues, but she’s honestly equivalent to an autistic child in terms of what she actually understands about said social cues. She’s not capable of understanding nuance or subtext, she just knows what sounds like a funny comeback because she was told that’s what it sounds like.
