What is the best German car brand?

I know and I probably get some blowback on this, but for me at least I think the best German car brand is Porsche. I have a Porsche myself and it is the absolute best car I've ever owned in terms of my own needs and desires relative to cars. This probably would not be true for others. I've also had a BMW and although I liked the car and I think it was well engineered the problem with that car was to get any work done on it at all cost an absolutely inordinate amount of money. It was even worse than the Porsche in terms of just sheer expense. That made owning it less than pleasant experience.

I've also owned several Mercedes and they thought they were just kind of dull and boring. They too were expensive to maintain but from my standpoint the boredom they created. What's the worst aspect of the whole experience.

I selected Volkswagen, because of their wide product range and the fact that they still have affordable models not stuffed full with silly and expensive computer gadgets. If you are willing to pay a luxury surcharge, their Audi models are very solid.

Oh man i might get hate for this, but I personally love the Opel-Cars.
I have an Opel Corsa F from 2021 and they are solid everyday cars, look good and you used to get the spare parts for a good price (I don't know how it's now, didn't needed them) ... and yeah of course I have one myself haha

I think all German car manufacturers have a good name for producing quality cars.

Mercedes-Benz are probably associated with being the number one German company, and their successful involvement with F1, enhances their appeal above the other German manufacturers.

Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen are all made by same company. Anyway, the best car is going to depend on what you want and how much you want to spend. I had four BMWs -- a 2008 loaded 328, a Z4 M coupe, a track-prepared 1995 E36 M3, and an X5 SUV. They were all great except the X5, which was a maintenance nightmare.

don't buy german cars. i'm german. they're fucked. go for japanese cars. they are making durable long lasting machines like the germans used to. germany sells china grade plastic crap for usury prices these days.

I've never owned one so I can't legitimately/objectively say which is best. If going purely based on looks, I'd say the Volkswagen Beetle and Porche 911 look good.

The only German cars I have owned were VWs, going back to my 1978 Scirocco. All of them were affordable and dependable cars.
