Why doesn't my spell checker recognise American states?

I've just noticed something weird. On my Samsung phone as I type it suggests words along the bottom as I begin to type and will correct my spelling as I go along.

But for some reason, it doesn't like American states. For example California isn't recognised, Texas automatically gets changed to "texts". Arizona becomes Arianna. Louisiana became "Louise anal". Even if a state is recognised, it won't automatically capitalise it as it does towns and cities.

We're in the middle of a brand change. Please be patient while we roll out the new and more representative renaming of every state and city in the Divided States Of America.

Louisiana = Louise Anal was just a market survey used with focus groups to test the reaction to more accurate names.

Maybe you have a British version? It may distinguish between English for (Great) Britain, the USA, Australia... The same with French, where it will distinguish between France, Switzerland, Belgium... although it's the same language with only small differences.

Americans are generally pretty dumb. Most of them won’t notice if their home state was misspelled anyway. So there couldn’t be a more useless technology. Chances are good that more people are looking up “Louise anal” than Louisiana anyway. Ell oh ell!

Maybe check if your maps app recognizes the "Gulf of America" while you are at it to... Its a smart phone right?

Google map has both names side by side while my nautical chart still calls it GOM

That's weird. It definitely works on my old iOS, correcting Mississippi and Tennessee.

I'm gonna try that with countries as mine has flags when I type the country
