Trending & News Absolutely not. One use is all it took to reveal that it’s completely useless. It got the answer to my question wrong five times in a row. If i didn’t know that it was wrong, i would have gone on to think that its answer was complete and accurate, and possibly disseminate bad information myself. There are likely untold millions of people regurgitating lousy information that they got from AI because they believe it’s an infallible source of irrefutable facts.
There’s literally no reason to think AI is any better a source of quality information than your next door neighbor’s idiot kid who also refuses to use three simple words, “I don’t know”.
Nonsense. I couldn’t have offered more information to help a system that literally knows nothing to get to an accurate and complete answer. It’s a machine designed to GUESS based upon more information than YOU have available. Full stop.
Literally every single answer from that BS should be “Your guess is as good as mine” because it really is.
Which athlete does Jay Mohr hug in “Jerry Maguire”?
It might be at the time you asked it that ChatGPT was not trained on popular culture or at least on popular TV shows. It might be that that's been corrected now. I have found in the past that it was not trained on the current version of World of Warcraft. So when I ask questions, it would often give me wrong answers. The lack of training in a particular area seems to be the problem. If you have a question that relates to a specific area, then it's best to ask ChatGPT if it's been trained on that area and when it was trained.
No. That’s the same mistake it made when i asked. The AI is just running down the filmography naming actors in the film. Jay hugs one of the actual athletes who portrays themselves in the film.
https://youtu.be/wcrxiDWyeVI?si=O8GM5XUVji26QVvz
The filmography lists many of said athletes, if not all. However, it doesn’t tell us who is in which scenes, and i don’t know them well enough to sort that out myself. Furthermore, my friends and family who would know are more about sports than movies. So they can’t help me either.
It’s a relatively simple crossover of trivia that any all-seeing, all-knowing machine should be able to answer quickly, easily and accurately. But it can’t. And if it can’t answer a simple question about an extremely popular movie from thirty years ago, how many other random guesses has AI proffered to unwitting people who just assume that it’s absolutely correct? How much completely inaccurate and otherwise useless information is being cast about the internet as absolute fact because nobody is capable of simple fact checking anymore?
Yes, but there are lots of athletes with cameos in that movie. It might be impossible for AI to know, but that’s at the core of my issue with it and with its pervasive use. NOBODY is thinking about the limitations of AI before and after they use it. The fact that it cannot simply reply “I don’t know” is a tremendous flaw. This puts a somewhat intelligent and mindful person leagues ahead of the machines as far as i’m concerned. I guarantee that there are people using AI like it’s omnipotent and infallible. There are people doing that here, and there’s no way it’s limited to fools on G@G. It’s still the blind leading the blind, but nobody is willing to admit that.
I think AI has been over promised a lot. I've learned to ask it several important questions before I use it for anything that I deem important. The questions are when is the last time you were trained and have you been trained on insert the name of whatever material I'm actually working on. Like you, I wish I could say I don't know, but apparently nobody ever thought of building in that ability. That would be helpful.
ChatGPT is not good when it comes to specific celebrities or characters from movies or shows. There are other AI's for that. ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini have become staples for most people nowadays. They're replacing search engines entirely, and they only continue to improve.
To ask one question and make the assumption "AI is completely useless" is honestly quite an unintelligent statement.
To NOT factor in the fact that AI doesn’t use the words “I don’t know” is downright ignorant. If you don’t know the answer to the question you are answering when you ask AI, you can’t possibly know that it’s right or wrong. To then use and disseminate that same information as absolute truth, which is exactly what most people are doing with it, isn’t just ignorant, it’s dangerous. Anyone who suggests otherwise has no business coming at those of us who are smart enough to recognize that.
For pretty much everything. I have a different AI that I use for different purposes, but ChatGPT is my go-to for most of the tasks. Whether it's to help with research, content creation, introspection, help with ideating for gift ideas, recipes... everything.
The best aspect of it, is the memory it has which learns the important stuff about you, which helps with direction in life.
I asked ChatGPT:
"I am ChatGPT 🙂
So yes—this conversation is happening with ChatGPT, an AI created by OpenAI to answer questions, explain things, help with writing, analysis, creativity, and more.
If you’re asking out of curiosity: you’re using ChatGPT right now through this interface.
If you meant something more specific (like how ChatGPT works or who uses it), I can explain that too."
I do! From time to time. I ask its advice about my hobbies. It knows a lot more than I do and I value its insights, even if they’re not perfect. There’s another AI called Claude that supposedly will sext with you if you know the right command, but I have no interest in sexting with an AI so I never tried it.

I used to but then soon realised that it lies a lot just to please you even when you personalize it and tell it to be brutally honest. I use perplexity now because most of the time it provides reliable data and helped me a lot in submitting my application to colleges. But sometimes I still use chatgpt for telling some incident or anything story like.
I use ChatGPT a lot in my work to synthesize and summarize test results that are very complex. I can do it by hand, of course, using a calculator, but it's much easier to just enter the values into ChatGPT and let it do the calculations for me. I have a membership with ChatGPT for the purpose of doing this.
It might have been a thing before I graduated college, but maybe not. I, however, learned how to research and write papers on my own without help from AI. Granted, it took close to an hour to find out how to cite a museum plaque, but I eventually found out (I don't know anymore, so don't ask me how).
I have played with AI. But use it or rely on it? No. Mostly I play around to see where AI failure modes are apparent so I can potentially detect when idiots are relying on poor advice from an AI.
All the time.
It’s way helpful to use to get help for any kind of research, writing a professional email in the right words, interpreting dreams, etc.
Not really, but I do use Google Gemini a bit and chances are you do too. Whenever you are doing a Google search and see "AI Overview", that's Google Gemini.
Either chat gpt other gen AI tools
I try not to be dependent on it but it’s futile to resist evolution
It’s like insisting on pen and paper when smart phones became a thing
I don't "USE IT" but i tried it once or twice to "pop the hood" and form an educated opinion about different AI platforms.
Yes it's a great alternative for a lot of things especially for therapy. I get a lot of therapeutic tips and advice from it.
Right that's true. I still know that I need actual therapy to get the help I need. But it's nice to get some advice on the things I am going through that I may not be able to by a therapist because I can't afford one right now.
Right for sure.
Occasionally I use ChatGPT. mostly for fun. More often, I see Google Gemini or Bing Copilot, that often pops up when I do an Internet search.
Sometimes... But more often Gemini these days. But usually just for minor stuff, for anything more complex it's too unreliable
Good god no. I prefer interacting with real humans. If I have research to do I do it the old school way.
Wait… you prefer to interact with humans but you have no problem researching on a computer?
i use the same thing but euro version (mistral)
No, google Gemini for searching sometimes if i'm too lazy to write something in my phone.
No, thanks. I can write myself and have no interest in that soulless robo-babble.
Nope. Don't trust it as far as I could throw it.
Simples...
No. I hate people using chatgtp, not being able to think for themselves and being too reliant on it. Also the data centers are bad for the environment and economy
Just because they use chatGPT doesn’t mean they rely on it though lol
Those who clicked the NO option also use it! But they just tryna be cool!
indirectly, yes
Nope. I have no use for it.
No. I have my own small scale custom AI.
Nops... I have no use of it
Yes and I'm starting to use it more often
Yes, it helps me improve my grammar.
Used it once. I don't get it.
Yes ofcourse
Yes, but I recently switched to Grok.
Use WhatsApp AI
Yes, but I prefer Grok.
I use perplexity and iask
I love chatGPT
Yes a lot
What for?
I use it for programming when it gets way to hard and sometimes for advice
Its amazing
Not yet.
Nope, never.
