What is your favorite computer operating system?

Since many years, my favourite operating system remains PCLinuxOS. Before that it was MacOS 9 and MS-Dos 6.2.

Sure I like somehow Windows 7, and to be honest I do not despise Windows 10 and 11 in spite of forced updates. My favourites still remain Linux and MacOS 9.

I use Linux Mint as my main OS. I use Windows 10, 11, and 7 when I must. I used to use PCLinuxOS, but stopped cause I use some yubikeys on some of my accounts. I liked Dr Dos 6.0 when I first started in computers.

During many years I refused to get any computer because I didn't need any, till the day I had to produce a translation, which had to be on a floppy. I was lucky in my teen years to already have learned to use correctly a typewriter. A friend brought me around the year 2000 an old IBM running MS-Dos 5 or 6, and gave me a few elementary instructions. A few years later another friend brought me a Macintosh running MacOS 8.6. When Apple decided to drop the Classic OS in favour of X, I shifted to Linux. I still don't like MacOS X, although a robust system... So, Linux it is in general, and MacOS 9 now and then.

Windows has always been my favorite operating system. Bill Gates sure is a great smart man and a hero. He naked the gest computer operating systems and has saved countless lives with his wonderful life saving vaccines and has contributed so much good to the world. Computers would be nowhere near as advanced and the world would be so much worse if it wasn't for Bill Gates.

I use Linux Mint XFCE. In my opinion it works the best over all. But not all Linux OSes are the same, or even made for the same kind of user. I would throw Microsoft in the trash, except for the fact that too many hardware companies are on the Microsoft team. I think if you could take that away from them, they would either need to start listening to their users, or sink in the ocean. Mac survives because it is a walled garden. The Hardware and the OS is made by the same company therefor it plays good with the hardware it comes on. The company built a good name for themselves. So people spend lots of money on those systems. I wouldn't use Mac due to how much it costs. I can't afford them.

I like Linux Mint XFCE as my favorite. But that is because it lets me get my work done without interrupting me.

In my opinion it is easier to use than windows. All software is installed from one app, and all software is updated in another app. And you can update whenever you want too. You are not forced too, and you are not forced to reboot.

They have three different desktop environments you can try out. I prefer XFCE cause it is very lightweight and I know how to make it look the way I want. But if you want the most modern looking desktop, Cinnamon is the most modern. Mate is another old one like XFCE. No matter which one you want to try, installing and updating is the same.

I had the most fun with AmigaOS and MacOS 8 and 9. MacOS X is technically better, of course. Windows (7/10) I have to endure job-related.

I actually like Windows most of the time; it's fairly easy to troubleshoot, and it's been running a computer of mine for about 10 years now with no problems. For other things, I like Linux and other operating systems you probably have not heard of.

It was Windows XP. It was fast and it did not crash much. There was not a lot of useless gimmicks that have been added on in Win 10 and 11 that have just made it harder to use and administer.

TOPS-20 (BBN TENEX). Ran on the DEC PDP-10 architecture. Either that or Unix or Linux. Windows is horrible.
