How to watch a dvd or vcr tape, now that there is no internet on?

Hi does anyone know, how to still watch our dvd/vcr player on a, whats called a smart tv, without an internet on? won't play it, now.

Our DVD/VCR player, is still connected to the TV. Once the internet got turned off, our DVD/VCR player, wouldn't work.

Do the machines have legacy ports, like Scart, Chinch or S-Video? HDMI tends to be too smart for its own good.

I looked all over google months ago, was said that anyone needs a little black box to hook up, to make it work. just don't know if that is true.

Sorry, but „little black box“ is how my great-grandmother described technology. With which cable are they connected now? Your first step on the TV is to switch through the input ports manually. Have you done that?

yep, sure did. as soon as the internet got turned off, i turned om tv and tje screen was grey with a tiny word moving around screen ligjt grey, said, sarching or mo signal. something like that. I used the remote and changed impiuts that didn't help. i changed channels, i just turned the tv off

Check the cable that’s connecting both machines. What ports is that cable using?

sir, everything from the DVD/VCR combined player, is all still plugged into the side of the TV. a bunch of plugs from the DVD/VCR player.

Well, the actual ports would be important. And have you checked if the player is actually mechanically working?

SOMETIMES, when it's "searching" it might take a while. Just let it search for a while and then come back in a while to see if it found anything. If it still hasn't, after about 15 or 20 minutes, most likely, something's not right. I would probably have to be there or at least see how things are hooked up to be able to possibly figure it out.

The combined player, works. Turns on, ejects. just won't let me see it on screen since the internet got turned off.

@FunkyMonkee well, that would be quite helpful and appreciated if you coyld be here to check it out. sure would be good to watch tv, again in the bedroom. now i need to ser how i can find that thing everyone has to buy, to be able to watch regular tv channels.

I'm guessing there's an internet cable that get's plugged into the set-up somewhere. With regular t. v. cable set-ups, the input from outside goes into the input of the recording/playback device and the output of that goes into the t. v.. Is that how yours is set up? If so, try unplugging the outside cable from your deck. Maybe that cable is telling the t. v. to override the VCR signal.

Have you tried disconnecting the internet cable?

Also, usually, the t. v. has to be on channel 3.

No problem. You might also have to set up something on the player to tell it to connect to channel 3. I'm pretty sure my DVD recorder is like that.

Get a VCR/DVD combination player that has an HDMI output.
