They are pretty cool but they are large and hard to steer they may be an easy target for modern day missiles although they may be useful in long distance bombardment under escort from destroyers/cruisers.

Yes and no. In WWII the carrier proved superior to battleships. They’re useful for shore bombardment but modern cruise missles have largely replaced the big guns

A nuclear powered battleship is a necessity of war fighting in the modern age, and it's primarily to deal with drone swarms. Everyone has seen how much drones are being used in Ukraine... Drones are cheaper than cruise missiles, so to deal with a cheap threat, you need a cheap solution to economically counter if you are to win wars, and that cheap solution is the rail gun. The rail gun is a long range cannon that finds itself at home on a battleship and it has the hunger for a nuclear reactor and large stacks of ammo to take out wave after wave of grown swarms at range. It's the solution to the current problem on the battlefield. Anyone who thinks America doesn't need nuclear battleships is not paying attention to what is happening in the world.

Fiber FPV drones which can not be jammed have a range of roughly 25 miles now. The rail gun has a range of 100 nautical miles. Thus on a nuclear battleship it out ranges current drone swarms and can sit off the coast and rapidly target thousands of drone threats without being at risk.
