Do you ever try something like these pics to try to angle your tv remote better?

Nah, you don't usually need to do that.

Just take the back cover off, and give the batteries a couple good spins, and they're good as new!

Not with remote control but it's not unusual around here to see tourists do the same thing with their phones to get a signal.
