How high is your monthly electric bill and what’s driving it up?

Mine was 136 dollars for last month. A few months ago, I was paying more like 190 dollars per month, because the television set was drawing way more power than it was designed to, even when it was turned off. It eventually shorted out, thankfully, and I found out why my electric bill was so high. It was the damned television drawing too much power.

Mine was pretty damned unreasonable, but more recently I've replaced all of my thermostats with ones that manage the power better. Because of that, my bill has been reduced by almost 80%. That being said, I am unfortunate enough to have Southern California Edison as my power company. They are the same people who start fires because they don't maintain their equipment properly. They are being sued for that, and of course they are trying to pass the costs of their lawsuit on to their customers, including me.

Our electric rate will rise in the summer and then drop back down in the fall. Well, last year it just stayed at the summer rate, about a 42% increase in the electric rate. Why? Greed.

It is between $250 and $300 bucks a month. We have a governor that bought into the whole global warming hoax and chased a natural gas pipeline out of the state which could have provided fuel for electric power plants. Instead we have "renewable" power. Mostly windmills and solar panels which is the most expensive. .
