Do You Have A Weather Station In Your Home or Outside?

I have had a 3-in-1 Weather Station ever since I left my parents to move into my own home.

It's also sometimes called an Aneroid Weather Station or a Banjo Barometer.

I have mine inside my home and includes a Barometer to measure atmospheric pressure, with a drop in pressure usually signals rain, or a rise in pressure nice weather. A thermometer that measuring air temperature, and a Hygrometer that measures the amount of moisture or humidity in the air.

There are some Weather Stations with 4 or 6 dials and these add extra functions like a quartz clock, tide tracker, or comfort indicator.

I usually look at and adjust my Weather Station most days, and it's usually accurate, though I also make use of professional forecasts when I'm going out on my bike for a long ride, or visiting somewhere perhaps on a vacation.

Even my cat thinks Weather Stations are important, because it's better to sleep on the sofa if the forecast outside is going to be cold or possibly be wet weather.

My cat complained my Weather Station was too high up on the wall to see properly, and brought it down to a more viewable lower level.

Obviously I couldn't tell my cat off for wanting to make use of the same information as myself 😄

Do you have a Weather Station in your home, do you find it accurate?

no... I do have windows, that's enough

here in down-town-Hellish, Texas... there are two temperatures you need to know

- stupidly hot, but you will survive it

- stupidly hot, and you could possibly die

so I just look out the window and if I do see this...

maybe I just wait till the sun goes down

No, but several people in my neighborhood have high-end outdoor weather stations hooked up to the Internet and I can access those feeds (as can anyone online) and I have a couple of them saved. No need to have one of my own.

But it's so convenient having your own, and not expensive.
Did you know the first true barometer was invented in 1643 by an Italian physicist and mathematician Evangelista Torricelli.

No I don't have one but I've always wanted to know how the barometric pressure effects the human body. Would you be able to explain it please?

When the pressure is low the human body usually gets wet, especially if the person concerned doesn't have an umbrella 😄

They're not expensive, and I find them fun watching the pressure go up and down.

A bit like watching paint dry, I've got a very exciting lifestyle 🤣

It's the only Scientific item I own, it's old technology but it's still amazing.

It's called a Weather Station but it also gives me information about my home conditions.

People probably think it's a gimmick, and should be consigned to the trash can, but it's technology that is still has good as it was 400 years ago.

great! i only got a mercury air thermometer to measure when i feel cold or too hot. those weather predictions were consistently hotter than observed. just to fool people global warming.

if it was really warmer they would not need to lie!

No my boyfriend has a wireless weather station at his house. He is studying to be a Meteorologist.

My dad had something very similar in our house while I was growing up. I saw him always tapping on it to bring it to the right barometric pressure reading

My parents had one too, but I think it was just mainly for decoration, I don't think I saw anyone look at it, but it was in the entrance hall, so I wouldn't notice if they did. Sometimes my barometer seems like it's frozen just like your Dad's, but the pressure sometimes never changes for a month or so.

Why trust your mobile when you can see for yourself lol?

Let’s see, do I trust the national oceanic and atmospheric administration more than your barometer that you’ve never had calibrated or checked against a standard? Yes, yes I do.

I calibrated my barometer to the International Standards set by the World Meteorological Organisation. You could do the same very easily if you bought one.

Also does your mobile give you your room temperature, and humidity in your room at a quick glance?

Would you be bothered to check the reading on your mobile?

My Barometer will outlast your mobile, for in a few years your brand new expensive iphone will be rubbish lol.
