On Snapchat, can someone see your message if you’re not friends?

I was friends with someone on Snapchat.

I deleted him but then he added me back and sent a message.

It took me a week to reply back.

His name was still in my list but I never accepted his friend request.

I saw the message and sent him one back without accepting the friend request.

Will he see the message? It said delivered but then his name disappeared.

Just wondering if he still got my message.
