Should AI-generated photos and videos be watermarked to stop scams?

Has anyone else been approached by someone who in their pictures are drop dead gorgeous? The pictures seem too perfect. They have a sad story always wanting money. They have no real address, no real email, only shady friends to send money to them through. Some of their friends are on known scammer lists. I wish any AI generated or enhanced photo or video should be watermarked unless it is for movie purposes. What are your thoughts?

Yes. AI-generated pictures, videos and documents should be watermarked in permanent metadata that cannot be changed. Similarly, any edited, doctored, photoshopped, etc. pictures and videos should be similarly marked.

Lawyers are now using AI to create legal briefs and opinions, photos and videos. It would be a shame if someone were convicted because of a fictitious AI-generated picture or video.

Yes. And, it should be a federal felony (fraud) if the imagery, video, or audio is used in a way to (fraudulently) deceive for profit or tangible benefit.

The same could have been said of books, newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, albums, cassettes, 8-tracks, CDs, VHS, DVDs, internet and streaming programs. AI is no different.

I remember the same thing being pushed for regarding airbrushed photos.
Everyone agreed then too and no one cared that it didn't happen in the end either.

Either declare itself or have no civil/legal recourse for piracy.

That's not possible any more. Too many models that people can use on their own computers. Too many apps and whatnot.
