
We've all learned to trust photographs. If the photo shows something it must be true. If I say Tiananmen Square, you will, most likely, envision the photograph of a man bravely standing in front of a tank... that really happened. There are many other examples of this.
To be blunt, we trust pictures.
But that may no longer be the case. AI tools have become so sophisticated that it is practically impossible to tell the difference between an original photo and an AI-doctored one, as shown in the attached pictures.
So what should we do?
Should we no longer trust pictures, don't allow them as evidence in court? Should we require original photos and AI-generated photos to be watermarked as to what they really are?
