Oh man, I haven't owned a desktop box in 25 years. I'm a finance guy these days and a laptop is smaller, lighter, but has all the power I need for business software, email, a browser, etc. And with USB / HDMI ports and sharing, I can use any size screen I want. Or any other peripheral for that matter. I think the only reason to own a desktop these days is gaming or maybe researchers who need extreme processing power, RAM, or storage. I'm currently on a 16" AMD Ryzen 8 core machine with AMD RADEON graphics card, 16 GB of Ram, and a terabyte solid state drive. It's frankly overkill for for a finance guy.
I need something portable I can take anywhere.. way better than being stuck at one desk. But if the desktop is strictly for gaming, I’ve got no problem with that.
It begins and ends with portability for me. Other than that, I VASTLY prefer my desktop. Most functions I need a computer for are low power. Any kind of media editing and processing is better done on a desktop.
Depends. A desktop isn't portable. A laptop isn't powerful.
Desktop is superior in almost every way
I prefer desktops.
