Actually quite a lot tbh. I know it's not safe but I can quite easily text with one hand without looking. And for the reading part I make sure that I have enough awareness of what's going on so that nothing can possibly happen while I'm reading. It's almost the same like if you're changing the radio station on your cars stereo. You taking your eyes off the road for a few seconds doesn't mean you'll crash all the time.
