The city you should visit in France, BORDEAUX.

Bordeaux is a city of more than 2000 years old, crossed by the Garonne, it was not destroyed during the war which makes it a city with an incredible and maintained architecture.

It is the French city with the most listed monuments after Paris

Bordeaux also has the largest shopping street in Europe; Rue Sainte-Catherine

At the entrance is the Grand Théâtre and at the end, the Place de la Victoire ( a little bit short but you can eat well there ! ) 🛍️🍽️

You should know that Bordeaux is a very accessible city for people with reduced mobility, there are recent streetcars, buses and even a small boat to cross the Garonne, there are cobblestones in the small streets but overall it is quite handi-free

How can we not talk about wine? Bordeaux has the best climate for, many vineyards and is the world capital of wine, I am not teaching you anything 🍷

So there is the monument of the city of wine which is supposed to represent a carafe ..

You can do the wine route in Saint-Emilion which is a town 45 minutes away and even visit it for its beauty if you don't drink

There are also hot air balloons twice a year 🌅

You should also know that there is wine without alcohol! And no it's not grape juice

How can we not talk about the nearby beaches? The Arcachon basin, Lacanau, La Dune du Pyla

You can also eat the best cannelés in the world

Absolutely magnificent! Aside from the architecture I think I would appreciate the history surrounding me. So the Battle of Tours (Poitiers?) was nearby to Bordeaux?

The history around Martel The Hammer is jumbled in my mind other than Islam was stopped there. It's difficult to think of Aquitaine as independent but it sort of was wasn't it - around that time?

You have certainly have convinced me to want to visit but the tragedy in this modern life is we have so little time and when we do have time we have little money :)

Poitiers is still farther from Bordeaux you will need two hours of road to go there, and well you have to know that Bordeaux and the acquitaine was under British rule, but France recover it. The English had an unfortunate tendency to consider our territory as theirs 🤣 besides did you know that the English monarchs also carried the title of Kings of France until Napoleon

Ah. Didn't know it was that far. I didn't know about the Kings of France title. I imagine losing all the territories wasn't a reason to drop it til 1801. I like fascinating odd balls of history like this. Thank you.

Almost went there last year, but we went to Avignon instead. Looks like a wonderful city.

If timed right, could sip some wine while the tour de France whizes by...

Thank you very much for the kind compliments, well I would have liked to be smart enough to go to university but I stopped my studies at the age of 16. However I am quite curious so I read a lot of books on history and other subjects.

Well, life in Bordeaux may be higher than in other places in France, but Paris is far ahead lol

I actually tried to calculate how expensive it would be for me to visit Paris and it weren’t so bad if I go to a cheap hotel and avoid too many high end restaurants.

All I need is a passport and vacation time.

Maybe I need to calculate Bordeaux.
