I visited the USA for the first time. It was not how I thought it would be..

At first I was a little scared to visit, but everything bad I read online turned out to be false. It is now my favorite country I have visited (I've been to about 32 countries so far). I love love the diversity in landscapes. Very often I would go from snow to desert. I felt like I was in Africa, then Europe, then South America all in the same week haha. The people were all nice and friendly too and I am brown lol. My worst encounters were ironically from other tourists (one writing graffiti, one being rude and probably racist, and another one insisting on talking politics to an American woman at the breakfast area). The dark skies were AMAZING. I also love how everyone says Hi and How are you? When passing by the trails. In my country they ignore you or stare mean if you say something.

My complaints were that some hotels are suuuper expensive for what you get, the food options are very limited in small towns, (but you can find any cuisine in the world in bigger cities!), and some rundown looking towns were a bit depressing. But the nature is probably the best in the world alongside Canada. Tours and activities are also way overpriced. I don't want to pay $100+ to rent a kayak for a day (but this can vary on location of course, but still).

In the end, I feel very lucky and blessed to have had this opportunity. It is one darn beautiful country and I felt safe all the time.

I'm glad you didn't pay much attention to all the negative rhetoric about how horrible the US is and decided to come anyway, and that you had a great trip! I agree with you about the varied terrain and beauty. There is so much to see here and I have only seen a fraction of it. But of what I have seen, I love the alpine mountains of the West, the red rock canyons and cliffs of southern Utah, the beaches and oceans of the west coast, the sprawling fields of the Midwest, the deserts of California and Arizona, the lush greenery of the East and Midwest, the incredibly beautiful rocky coastline of Oregon and Washington, the redwoods and sequoias in central and northern California, the hundreds and hundred of beautiful lakes in Minnesota. I could go on and on. And like you said, the locals in most of those places are warn and friendly.

The US gets a bad rep for some things, primarily in the media, for political reasons. Both ends of the political spectrum like to paint the other as horrible. They exaggerate problems so they can blame the other side, which makes us look like a bunch of assholes to the rest of the world. But the reality is, every day Americans are mostly really good people who welcome visitors from other countries as long as they come legally and obey the same laws we do. The latter is true of any sovereign nation, but for some reason we get a lot of hate for it.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. It's refreshing to hear someone say something positive about the US. I don't know where you're from but I hope to visit there someday too.

As long as you don't visit the suburbs or jump any fences you will probably be safe out there yeah. They have 2 police officers for every sitizen there so help be close by at any time usually

I've stumbled upon many suburbs. Nothing wrong about them. But yeah when you vacation somewhere it's not usually your priority to check out suburbs or jump fences

Haha no you're absolutely right! But I have seen cities like Chicago for example where this fentanyl epidemic is going on. That's really hard to take in. So many addicts and homeless people out there on the streets it's a sad thing to see. But the US definitely has incredibly beautiful scenery and nature. Definitely things you should focus on while being on vacation over there💪🏼

It’s now about “beauty” because our regarded government always gives our hard earned money to OTHER countries for x reasons, and never to actually fix anything here to wow anyone.

All other places have more breathtaking views than us.

the reason we are better is not for the amazing things you can be wowed with visually but the type of life with gazillion opportunities you have to grow and make your life better.

of our shitty government didn’t give our tax money to wars and other retarded shit like making fish gay and then like, we too would have amazing tourists places to visit like anywhere else in the world. Maybe even better.

but the fact is we don’t. That’s why it’s nice to vacation anywhere else but still the best place to live will always be here. Nowhere else in the world you have this much opportunity to grow even when you come from nothing, your chances of success are high unless you’re a true lazy person who has no aspirations.
