When you Think of Malaysia, What is the First Thing That Comes to Your Mind?

On August 31st, 1957, Malaysia became its independent Asian country. I've never been to Malaysia, but when I think of Malaysia, I think of Kuala Lumpur, the South China Sea, organized religion, a monarchy, and diversity.

The extremely poor and dirty area of Kuala Lumpur where my first hostel turned out to be located. The area was creepy and looked like a bomb hit it. Also, every single man starred at me like I was an Alien. The hostel was so extremely dirty and disgusting that I checked out 2 hours after arriving and went straight back to the airport and fler to Langkawi instead. The hotel there was nice but far from town and had nothing to buy, not even water... I should also mention that the hostel and the area around it had great reviews online... The staff was nice though, I'll give it that.

May I ask where you stayed... I can't imagine where. I go to KL every month and have lived there over a year before I moved to Bangkok. If you ever go back please be my quest and I will show you so many wonderful places. Now I stay away from the Muslim areas and go to the Chinese areas

I have never seen this? I lived in Malaysia at KL for over a year and go back every month...

I have lived there. So, not only one thing pops up first, or foremost. One very good point: Malaysians are very approachable and mostly likeable persons. A very bad point: They seem to believe that plastic waste is a kind of street decoration.
