+1 yThere are a few things straight away that come to mind. First is my fiancé. Although he lives in my country for work, he was born and raised in Perth. So, when I think Aussie, I think of him and his gorgeous accent.
After that, I think our wedding. It is coming up at the end of the year. We marry 31/12 on New Year’s Eve. We chose to get married in Perth at that time because it will be summer there, friends and family will be gathered for the holidays already. Plus, how cool is it to ring in the new year as newly weds, right?
After that, I think of my recent trip in August (first time visiting) and all the wonderful people I met. Honestly, they are some of the most kind and friendly people I have met.
I so enjoyed my time there and look forward to going back in December for a number of reasons, but mostly to marry my Aussie fiancé and start a life and family with him.

I may be biased because I got married on New Years Eve but it’s the best time to get married! Congrats!

@annabananna aww! That is so cool that you did as well. I bet it made it extra special. Thanks!! 🙂

@exitseven We are doing an outdoor wedding since it will be summer there that time of year. 🙂

@exitseven Aww that is so cute. I bet it was really nice.

The people are smart, the country doesn’t lack for education. And they are hardy, no matter what they are dealing with. In my experience with friends from the country.

+1 yI actually lived in Australia for a few months several years ago, working on a project with an Aussie company. So, when someone mentions Australia, what comes to mind is: driving on the left, interesting wildlife (kangaroos, koalas, dingoes), different sports (cricket, Aussie rules football, rugby) and Victoria Bitters (VB) beer... only foreigners drink Fosters Lager.

He was so anti gun that he was against them even if used to deal with the wild boar invasive species problem. It was pretty irrational.
I only mentioned it to him because they we're offering to pay hunters to cull these animals.10 Reply

Not all Aussies are friendly. Don't ever try and ride our trains in peak hour you have people who will push past you to get on the train while you are trying to get off even though it is dangerous for people to do that. And than they have the audacity to bitch at you for not moving out of there way. It's like seriously you couldn't wait 30 to 60 seconds for people to get off the train before you get on.
10 ReplyMy Dad went to Australia in the 50's as a merchant navy crewman. Two stories always stuck in my head. It's a dustbowl and a story of an Aussie barmaid protecting him in a bar brawl as he was only 17 and her boobs were against his face.
Sorry Aussie's but the first thing that crosses my mind is convicts lol.
