Tough decision for me. I am a citizen of both countries and have spent almost equal time in both. I chose Japan for the time being (I am originally from Japan). And I feel more "familiar" still with Japanese people including the language, culture, the way of speaking, etc. But I do love American culture too. If I lived in the US once more though, I love Texas. I hate LA and don't care so much NY, don't like Chicago that much... New Orleans is interesting. But my favorite place that I lived in while I stayed in the US was Texas -- especially San Antonio. I love the Texans. They seem really down-to-earth.

I have actually talked to my wife (pure Japanese -- I am half) about living in Texas once more. I love American humor and people who are really down-to-earth. Japanese are sorta uptight -- but not nearly as much as many Americans that I met in places like LA. I also like Hawaii fairly well.

I loved Japan when I went to visit there. But Japan is a hard place to live if you are not an ethnic Japanese person. Japan is one of the most homogeneous countries in the world. Even though it would probably be my second choice in the world after the USA.

Definitely Japan.
The reasons are numerous but mostly because Japan has a long culture whereas the US, well, has none really.
Also, people respect each other in Asia while in the US, people kill each other.
There are numerous other reasons why Japan is a much better place to live than the US. For one, there is no political turmoil when there is a change in prime minister and people are civil. However, the biggest argument is that Japan is safe because firearms are not authorized to be carried by citizens whereas in the US...14 Reply- +1 y
I would think the US has culture and it is the predominate culture in the world through music, movies, fashion and more. The US brought Social Media to the world and online gaming. It is a very dominant culture. Japan is a very strict culture so be careful what you ask for. They also will treat you differently as you will never be Japanese. Their birthdate is very low so they will have problems soon or will have to open up their boarders which will change the nation and cause strife.

@Jersey2 Thanks for your opinion.
You honestly don't want to compare a culture that is several thousand years old with that of the US which has brought social media. Fashion is more of a European thing than American.
Quality music as I understand it came from Europe, not from the US and social media has brought more harm than good. Look at how critically the GAFA are viewed all over the world. Please do not compare US fast food with Asia cuisine, that would be an insult to Asians.
I am fully aware that in Japan, foreigners will never be treated like Japanese, just as for the Koreans. But look at those Afro-Americans and Mexicans. They will never ever be regarded as full fledged US citizens. Never. - +1 y
Their culture may be a thousand years old but it isn’t relevant to most of the world. But the US culture which you say doesn’t exist is relevant to the rest of the world. If people in the US all started wearing red and purple hats then you would see red and purple hats for sale in the stores near you. Have a nice day.

Japan looks beautiful and all, but I’m not a big fan of most Asian cuisine, so I’d better stay in America, otherwise I’d have to eat McDonald’s everyday lmfao
