Have you or would you ever take a solo vacation? Just all by yourself?

So i haven't gone anywhere in ages as im sure most of you probably haven't either with Covid and all. I really wanna go somewhere and do something so i was thinking of just going all by myself somewhere to check out some sights kinda nearby my city.

Have YOU ever done a solo vacation? or if not would you?

i have done it a few times, mostly because i really felt like going but could not find anymore interested or free.

it is nice because you are on your own, you are in a charge of all the decisions, moves, schedules. nobody is responsible for you and you are not responsible for anyone else.

you have much more time than doing it with other people. tne only problem i see is that it really gets lonely some times. especially in the evenings. in many places people don't want to hang up with you if you are alone, because you seem weird or doubtful only because you are there alone and people tend to think you are some kind of weird asocial creep, which is in most cases completely wrong. you might have better luck with hostels.
second thing is that you have a lot more time, so many times three days would be more than enough if you go solo

Yeah I have a bunch of times.

I am a pretty seasoned solo traveller now.

There are obviously a lot of safety things you need to think of, from physical of yourself to your belongings etc.

I've been to a bunch of places on my Jack Jones, it’s really satisfying and amazing for meeting new people.

I had a road trip down to Italy and back up through Austria and Germany, via Holland to Eurotunnel.

Met a heap of people, a bunch of them I am still in contact with.

Yes I have. It have mostly been on shorter/weekend trips, often as extension of a work trip. I loved it, many good memories and easy to plan for yourself if you know what you want ;)
It is really unfortunate that people do not feel safe to do this. Personally I think it is simple to take necessary precautions, like be out in daylight or stay in city centres. I mostly felt uncomfortable in places where I did not speak the language and where the general public is not so good with English, like South America and Japan. But I got around by asking help from enough people and joining touristic, guided excursions.

I would LOVE to vacation by myself. Like another girl has mentioned, the only thing that stands in my way is feeling safe. Travelling alone as a young female is very scary unfortunately. I hope to get the opportunity through work or something (I am a journalist) in the near future. At least that way I'd feel a bit safer.

I don't go on vacations, vacations are for people who hate their lives and want to escape it but don't for whatever reason try to make those changes at home.

I know others may view it differently, like just wanting to experience new things, but I'm not that type of person so I don't view it that way.

Yes I have. When I am excited about reading a book, I BOOK a special vacation for it 😹😃 I go alone and spend the whole vacation reading that book in the park at cafés hotel balcony... I don't even think about how I'm alone at the vacation.
I read my favourite book Anna Karenina in Vienna...

I haven't gone anywhere in 25 years and that kills me. So in my case Covid doesn't make a difference.
I've never tried to take a solo vacation but I'm 100% sure that all my vacations will be solo. So I'm willing to go.

Last July I went to Philadelphia, PA by myself
This year I want to go to NYC alone too, but my family thinks I will get kidnapped (bad excuse)

Solo trips are nice you don't have to worry about anybody else and you do whatever you want. Just make sure you have protection and pay attention to your surroundings

Yeah a mini one on the beach for two days. It was great Cx walking, biking, great food and tea on the top with a Killer night view.

I honestly wouldn’t trust myself lol and I want to bring my boyfriend with me or my dad so that I could feel safe being a female alone in a foreign country is scary and I don’t think it would be as fun alone I’d really love to travel though

Honestly, the thought of travelling alone scares me, I mean imagine getting lost in some place you're not familiar with and the other possibilities like getting robbed or something.

I have a few times. I traveled to Paris alone a few years ago and saw the French open (first round) as well as a bus tour. I also used to drive places and stay a few days, so I have been to a lot of states.

I liked to take vacations from the world. Just a few days off... up the mountains and into the woods, on my own. Those were always a good time or a needed time, have not done in a while though.

I have done this before I got married. I don't know if I would want to do it now.
I had to attend a seminar for my job and I stayed in a hotel for 3 days. I thought it might be fun but it really kind of sucked.

I do it all the time. I’ve been to Malta, Budapest, Amsterdam, Palma De Mallorca alone.
My friends are either stranded in Seoul or Toronto because of Covid so I can’t exactly go on group holidays.

Yes, and they can be great. Quick 1-2 days of hiking, photography, toking. Then fly home. My vacations with my wife are much better though.
