Which USA cities are safe to live in?

Which state in USA is the safest city to live in (keep in mind I want to live somewhere with a reasonable population and reasonable opportunities). So I understand if there are risks but what are some less risky cities.

If you search for safest cities in the USA online, you'll find none of the sites agree with each other. It's up to you to search the categories that are most important to you and then research the locations. I'd suggest contacting each state, as they generally have a department that encourages people to move to their state. Let them know what you're looking for, and they'll send you a list of locations that fit your request. Once you have your lists and have narrowed them down to places you would consider, get a subscription to the local paper and read it for a year (so you see if there are seasonal changes). Then, it is time to visit the locations and make a choice. Good luck.

My understanding is that you can not go wrong in the Raleigh NC area except for Durham.
The Number One of ALL the Safest Cities in USA is Cary NC. It’s very difficult to find a house available in that area.

Yea I have heard nc is really good. However, I am coming from living in a hot climate most of my life and genuinely want a cooler climate.

It is has been 40-55 at night 2 hours outside of that area…Can’t grow Christmas 🎄 Trees unless it’s cold. You can live below freezing for 4 months in the Hills…

What @caring__1said about seasonal is absolutely true. I worked for a SoCal beach city which during the winter was quiet, peaceful and crime free. When summer arrived, so did the tourists and crime rates skyrocketed. Not just thefts and car break-ins, but gangs would show up from outlying cities and violence would often break out. If the city you are thinking of moving to has any sort of tourist attraction (s) crime could be a concern.

I would steer clear of any city that has a democrat mayor.
