The gulf shores national seashore is absolutely gorgeous and a short drive. I like it here

The town is near Naval Air Station Whiting Field, which is where Navy, Marine and US Coast Gurad aviators undergo primary flight training (not in Pensacola as many think). The city's location to the two Naval Air Stations is why housing prices are higher than expected, as noted by @dustybiker

There isn't much there of interest. Of course, I live near to same sort of little Florida town, and there is nothing of interest here either... which helps to keep potential troublemakers away!
