when they died out they stopped grazing across siberia and one species of tree invaded the whole area. this killed any animal diversity and also proved thousands of years later to be an enviromental disaster adding to the melting of the permafrost releasining vast ammounts of greenhouse gasses. i liked mammoths ;)
