What's the best way to go from Rome to Florence?

Would you recommend renting a car, or go by train? I've never been to Italy before, so I'm a little confused.

I recommend you the Train, since there’s high speed line with 2-3 trains per hour from Rome to Florence. I suggest you to use this app for searching routes, times and trains. It also allows you to buy tickets.

I don’t recommend travelling by car not only for the high costs of fuel and highways but also for parking problems and Italian driving style.

Take the train. In addition to the cost of renting the car, add in gasoline and tolls along the Autostrada.

If memory serves, Italian high speed along that line reaches 250kph, or 155mph, so it won't take long for you to arrive in Florence.

I've never been to either place but I personally would prefer to take the train, then I'm not so focused on road signs and I actually get to enjoy the scenery. Just my opinion
