Has anyone traveled to Columbia, any tips, or places to visit while there?

So friends and I are planning to goto to Columbia for a week. Would like to know what places worth visiting. What activities to do. Maybe best area to get a hotel at. Anything that can help us decide. Thanks

I've been to Colombia many times. Skip Bogota, the capital. It is crowded and the elevation (over 2600 meters) is so high that it is hard to breath. It is also cold for most of the year.

For beaches, go to Cartagena. To just relax and chill, and enjoy good food, as well as stunning Colombianas, head for Medellín, the city of eternal spring, where the temperature stays at 28C year-round.

Colombia is a poor country so many people eat little meat, simply because it is expensive. Rice and beans, along with the arepa- which is a sort of corn bread which reminds me of an English muffin and can be stuffed with cheese (or eaten plain) are staples, along with vegetables and fruits. The tropical fruits are amazing- many of them never seen in Canada and the USA. The Colombia Peso is at an all-time low, so even exchanging Canadian Dollars you'll find everything inexpensive. Enjoy.
