How can I plan a trip using highways only?

I prefer to take the scenic route, I also like to avoid the interstate as much as I can due to accidents and crazy people. I’m taking a trip from Knoxville to Chattanooga then to cullman soon and I would like to do highway only but have no idea how to figure out the route

Use a route planner on line. Works for us in Europe.

Take U. S. 11 South to Farragut. Then continue West on U. S. 70. When you get to Kingston, turn South on Tennessee Rt. 58. Just keep straight and that road will take you all the way into Chattanooga.

From Chattanooga, take U. S. 41 North (which is actually West) to Guild. Then turn left on Tennessee Rt. 134, which turns into 156 if you keep going straight. Continue on 156 all the way to South Pittsburg. Then turn left and get on U. S. 72 West (going Southwest). You will soon cross into Alabama.

At Scottsboro, take the exit for Alabama Rt. 279, and turn left onto 279 South. Keep going straight, and this will become Alabama Rt. 79. Continue on 79 South all the way to Guntersville. Then turn right onto Alabama Rt. 69 West. (Or 69 South, possibly. I'm not sure what they call it at that point.). Take 69 all the way to Cullman.

When I mean interstate, I mean interstate. They are two different things, so if google means avoid INTERSTATE highways, it needs it say INTERSTATE highways, not just highways, so Google doesn’t understand that prick. And you need to stop acting dumb, like I wouldn’t be confused and think you mean highways, not interstates. K, thanks

I'm not in charge of the Google user interface design. By "highways" they mean limited-access highways. It would be nearly impossible to travel between cities without using highways.
