What do you do when someone is tailgating you?

Speed limit is 40 mph and no passing allowed. It’s nighttime here in Florida and the vehicle behind mine is almost on my bumper, lights on and flashing. My cruise control is set on 42 mph. What would you do?

What you don't do is brake check them... that's just an invitation for them to hit you.

If you can, pull over and let them pass. If you can't pull over, turn right onto another road, into a driveway, parking lot, etc. The thing to do is get out of their way and let them go past you.

I don't know what the rule is in Florida, but in some states, flashing your headlights can be done only in an emergency and the lead car is required to get out of the way.

Well as a woman I'd be too afraid to stop or even to go home. I would try to find my way to a precinct or a place with plenty of people around before i stopped.

Depending on why the person was tailgating you safety could be a concern. I went to change lanes once to make a left turn up ahead and the car next to me didn't like it and sped up right when I changed lanes almost causing him to rear end me. Then it seemed like he was following me because he made the next two turns that I did, so I started to head to the police station and eventually he turned off and went a different direction. Yeah I was concerned about road rage even though it was technically his fault, but somehow me chaning lanes in front of him pissed him off enough to speed up.

Ignore them as long as possible or get in the next lane and let them pass/pull over and let pass

Do laps to make sure he is following you, if he is go to a spot you know has security or police, personally tho I'd lead them into an alleyway and put the beam in their eyes

in Mexico... I would just flash certain "code" lights in certain colors, and that alone should cure 99% of whatever strain of road rage they're afflicted with, lol

Yeah... Depending on the state, most states the person who does the rear ending is automatically at fault... Besides that, if she were that close your lights wouldn't matter. I'd say hi e her a new hood ornament.
