Question for Indians…Which cities in India are extremely safe for foreigners and which cities are extremely unsafe?

That's a kinda dumb question. Every city all over the world is simultaneously both safe and unsafe for women. Some areas in a large city are safe some areas are unsafe. As a woman, you have to avoid unsafe places.

Overall south and eastern Indian cities are much safer for women than north Indian cities. Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai are the safest cities for foreign women. Eastern and northeastern India is more liberal and actually female-dominated. Most of the terrible news foreigners hear about India, is from north India.

Thanks for your opinion but it’s not a dumb question. One of my female friend is planning to India next month and I wanted to check for her. I don’t want her to get any kind of problem from any creepy guy out there. So it’s better for her to travel to safer cities then unsafe ones.

Tourists get scammed in all over the world, even you can see pickpockets/mugging in NYC, Paris, or London. Better avoid terrible places, bars, and club areas. Big cities are relatively safe if you stick to tourist places, museums, and libraries.

I agree, it's not a dumb question at all, and to think every place in the world is the same, is foolsh. Sure, those things can happened in Europe, but they're more likely to happened in India, but Indians LOVE to think their country is flawless and all the negative stereotypes are just that! It's so fucking annoying!

@KostasKouvalis I don't think India is flawless , at it current state it's way behind major European or North American countries. However you may have not understood what I said earlier. Every major city all over the world has similarities , as a tourist when you visit not one of your own. You can get into diffrent kinds of trouble but trouble, especially as a sole women.
