• What to bring:
A lot of this depends on whether you are going to be flying or not. If you are flying on a airplane, there are special rules that you have to follow regarding what items you can and can't bring.
Nevertheless, these are items that I usually recommend when going on a trip. (For anything that you can't take on a plane, you can just purchase that item when you arrive at your destination.)
My recommended items are: wallet, cell phone, cell phone charger, auxillary batter pack, camera (if you prefer to use a different camera than the one on your cell phone), backpack, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, good walking shoes, sandals, swimsuit, towel, maps (pick up at the visitor's center or tourist information center), a rough itinerary (create this for yourself ahead of time before departing for your trip), any coupons, certificates, vouchers, or pre-purchased tickets, medications (if applicable), a medical card with emergency contact listed, at least 3 extra sets of clothes, chewing gum, a water bottle (may need to be refilled after going through security), hand sanitizer, a flashlight, a whistle, and a weapon of personal choice (see airport and airline rules).
Additional gear will be necessary for tent camping trips.
• What’s the best places to go when you’re single?
While I don't personally recommend solo traveling, simply for safety reasons, the best places to go as a solo traveler are places that YOU actually want to go. Because this is your opportunity to do that. You don't have to negotiate or compromise with anyone else. Just follow your heart!
• How do you budget for a trip?
The same way you budget for anything else. Make a category in your budget for "Travel/Vacation." And then contribute a specific amount to that category every month, based on how many trips you would like to take per year and the average cost of the trips that you usually take.
As far as planning financially for a specific individual trip, these are the things I would recommend: First, deal with the transportation. Transportation is almost always the most expensive part of trip, so you need to factor this in before anything else. (The exception would be if you were going to stay at your destination for a week or longer. Because multiple days of lodging do add up.) Next, of course, is the lodging. Then figure out which attractions you want to visit while you are there, and add up the prices for those. (Some places do have free admission, but more often than not you will have to pay something.) Next figure out ground transportation for your destination (either if you will not have a car or if you will have a car but it's more convenient to use public transit.) Next, calculate the amount of money you will need to pay for meals. And finally, decide if you want to budget any money for shopping for gifts or souvenirs.
• How to prep your home:
If you have any pets, make sure you have care set up for them.
Make sure everything hazardous is turned off and unplugged.
Unplug all electronic devices, in case a lightning storm hits while you are away.
Turn off the heat/ air conditioning (UNLESS you have any items or infrastructure in your home that needs to be kept at a certain temperature.)
Make sure the security system is set and active.
• How to pick out a good travel agent:
Send a message to JamieO5rhs. He is the best. ;)
Thanks for the MHO! 😀
You’re welcome. This is well thought out I liked it definitely helps.
Lol.
It's cute that you think I have time, money or energy to go anywhere
That’s no good
I'll assume for an international one.
• What’s to bring
Depends. But usually a light jacket, 3 tank tops, 2 cargo pants, 3 pairs of socks, hiking boots, gloves, backpack, toothbrush and paste, meds etc.
• What’s the best places to go when you’re single?
Depends on what you want. But Germany, Iceland and Japan are pretty fun, but the latter two are more expensive usually.
• How do you budget for a trip
I put away a certain amount every month. For when I went to Iceland, I put away 300 a month.
• How to the prep your home
I have someone I trust come and stay for the week or however long I'm gone.
• How to pick out a good travel agent
No idea, I don't use them.
#1 I bring all the necessities and then basic clothing (graphic tees, crew tees, sweatpants, one pair of kicks, flip flops and heels) because I’m going to shop when i get there for nicer clothes as well as more necessities that couldn’t be brought on the plane. I like to go with an empty-ish suitcase because maids are nosey and like to steal no matter how nice and expensive a hotel is. Plus i need room to fit all the stuff i shopped for to bring back. #2 Vegas, Miami, and AU. #3 Save 50-75% of each check #4 Prep your home? As in choose a hotel? Read reviews. Or do you mean leave behind your home? #5 I dont choose a travel agent because I should be one and I’d make a great one at that
