Life is pretty simple and straight forward in what you need to do. We often just overcomplicate it, since humans are the overthinkers of the food chain.
Enjoy the simple. When travelling, its easy to immerse oneself into tourist traps for "experience". Or all the shops and stores with overpriced merchandise serving as tangible reminders of our visits. Its all about show and entertainment, as if we are empty vessels needing constant filling.
On my recent work trip, I walked along a beach. Dined at little hole-in-the wall restaurants where heart matters more than show. Found myself shamelessly licking the platter of a paper bowl, it was that good. Came across a public street piano and played music for passer bys. Sat down, dug my feet into warm sand and wrote a letter to a past lover while watching a sunset.
I feel alive.
Totally agree with this sentiment. I'm a planner. Love to have the itinerary and stick to it type of traveler, but for my birthday, my best friend and I took a trip where she forced me to ditch this habit and we went where the wind blew us. We met all sorts of random friendly people who directed us to all the spots the locals went to away from touristville. We ate only local recommendations and went only where someone was like, hey check this out. I hate to admit this, and she knows it, but I had a fantastic time. Something so freeing about letting go and just experiencing life.
Thats funny because im a very much plan everything type of person too. But you're absolutely right- love is freedom, and the ability to be free and let go is what makes us enjoy it.

That people are pretty similar all over the world. That its very difficult to know what a place is like unless you have actually been there. (for example China and Japan are totally different. Japan far more formal, China chaotic but very friendly).
The world is a big, really fascinating place.
That there are actual shitholes out there and these are not Europe or America.
The difference between having not enough money to eat in EU/USA and in shitholes is that in EU/USA you eventually can buy your own washing machine much sooner than in the shithole countries (if at all). I bought my first washing machine in Germany.
Sadly, that most of the people you'll encounter are selfish liars
