Just curious if you are a jetsetter and like to go to far away places or stick closer to home for vacations.

+1 yI definitely prefer domestic travel. I love being home and don’t intend to stray far from it. In the US, I want to visit Orlando, Miami, New York, Tampa, Aspen, and Dallas. I’m looking at a minimum of 8 hours travel by car to the city closest to me and a max of 18 hrs to the furthest. Thats too far 😭 I will definitely be flying to both. When I went to Vegas, that would’ve been a 25 hour drive but I flew so it was a 6 hour flight (with stops). Ugh Too long 😭 But i loved it and definitely intend to go back. I enjoyed Charlotte/Raleigh as well which wouldve been a 10-12 hour drive. But I flew to 2 hours to one and took a train to the other. Travel by train is sooo awful by the way lol. Its not cool like in Harry Potter. In terms of International, I only want to visit Canada, Australia and the Bahamas. I’ll likely fly to Canada and Australia but I am dreading the long expensive $3,000 overnight 20-30 hour flight to AU. As for the Bahamas, I’d like to go by boat as long as i steer clear of the Bermuda triangle. Then again I don't know if i can 😭 🎶 I should’ve stayed at home 🎶

Thank you for mho! And did you go to alaska when it was warmer out? And did it stay daylight as long as they claim?

What animals did you see? Like bears or anything?
- +1 y
Wow i’ve never seen a moose nor a whale so that would've been cool. I was rewatching In the Heart of the Sea for the 25th time so i wouldve enjoyed the whale watching
- +1 y
And reminds me to fly to bahamas instead of taking a boat lol

What's strange is most people's vacations I have lived at. I spent years on the road working at resorts and National Parks. I am a rescue Scuba Diver and trained in ski and snowboard repair. I drove boats commercially.

Sorry to hear you fear flying. I find commercial air travel very relaxing. Its an excuse to sit and do noting but doze or read. I know its as safe as driving. The rest of my life I always feel there is *something* I should be doing
+1 yI definitely have places I must go before I die. I’m 30 and I’m in die hard need to visit my moms side in the Philippines since I’ve never been. She definitely been going back and forth since I was a kid but, it never was a cheap ticket for her to buy me an extra ticket. It’s crazy planning too because it takes like 2 days to get there because I live near philly and that’s literally on the other side of the world with a 12hr time zone difference. If it’s 5pm here, it’s already 5am there (like tomorrow). No worries tho. I’m definitely going next year when they plan on going for a little reunion. I’ve been a lot of different places on the East Coast from Maine to Miami. And I even been to Canada several times in my life. Vancouver Canada one time. It’s funny how the only time I was in the West Coast and saw a bald eagle was in Vancouver Canada

Damn US travel, Europe, Caribbean!!
Ur done. U r done.😉 - +1 y
Lol my mom has a pretty thick Filipino accent. One of the last time she came back from the Philippines, she arrived back home, unpacking her luggage and explaining to me and my best friend and said, “so many beaches, so many beaches..” me and my friend looked at each other and smiled because we both thought “bitches”. 😂
I’m definitely going for the beaches

+1 yA little of both. My SO and I usually take two short closer-to-home vacations every year, along with one overseas trip (typically a cruise).
Traveling the world is more fun and interesting... just can't afford to do it all the time. Hence, the closer-to-home trips.
10 Reply I stick closer to home for vacations, that's why I never visit United States, it's too far away.

+1 yIn reality and given Covid, I've been a sticker close to home person. 🙂

Plus, to my mind, travel or international airports seem like full of angry people, rushing people... I'd rather cool vibes ☮️👀😎
- +1 y
Fair enough. I guess I don't travel before Covid and I don't fly post-Covid lol. Lucky me? 👌👍
- +1 y
I only travel locally or by road, train. Maybe local cruise ship someday, locally. Lol. Anyways, have a good day 😀 hopefully you enjoy staycations better or interstate road trips, drive safe 👍👌 or sail safe if on cruises lol 👍
- +1 y
How long do you think you'll avoid airports like the plague for? Was it rude people, long lines, or just so much effort for so little vacation relaxation when all travel was said and done or factored in, plus stresses. Lol? Months, years ahead? 🤔😎😄
- +1 y
I'd like to think it's mostly people's attitudes out of post Covid lol 😋
- +1 y
Oh okay, well enjoy American late summer then, California so groovy or Seattle lol 😁👍😀 never been to either, peace ✌🏻☮️😁
I like to see new places, but travel, for me, is extremely stressful and exhausting.
I've found that traveling by train is the least stressful mode of long-range transportation for me. A dining car, a sleeping compartment, and I'm good.

The train rocks so much it puts me to sleep but not in a good way. I got cart-sick lol. I love flying because you get the best sleep above the clouds. But i csnt stand the ear popping and headache. So far, nothing beats traveling by car for me. I want to get on a yacht or speedboat but not looking forward to a cruise. I can't even handle the smell of the sea near me. But its also all oiled up. Hopefully it smells better in other places otherwise i’ll be sea-sick. Overall i’ll be homesick. Gosh im a mess 🤣
If I get approved for a vacation I love traveling to places warm to get rest and relaxation but if its only a few days i'll just have a staycation grillin and chillin
14 ReplyGoing to Spain next month, about 9 hours in the air.
11 ReplyWhen I actually go away I want to actually experience something different. But I priorities having a good life at home. I wouldn't want to be rootless and travel all the time.

+1 ywithin 9 hour flight. after that, plane no fun:)
Bring back those high speed aircraft...
10 Reply I usually like to stay close to home, unless there's something very special about the destination. Example, I was finally able to visit the Philippines in March of 2023, and it was absolutely beautiful. So it made the travel worth it.
10 ReplyIt’s not a vacation vacation if I am not hopping on and off a plane.
10 ReplyI like to go on road or camping trips and stuff like that. Drive around and see stuff. I want to go to Europe and see a bunch of old stuff but I'll pass on flying.

+1 yI'm an environmentalist, and I believe it's extremely important to decrease our carbon footprint as much as possible. So, while I do take long trips occasionally, I keep them to a minimum.
