When you travel do you befriend locals of the area or do you solely stick with other travelers?

Question

Most fulfilling of my travel experiences have been times when I befriended both, locals and travelers.

But some travelers only stuck to us, other travelers.

I think one of the best parts of traveling is getting to know the way local people live.

I still have friends everywhere I traveled to and some of the craziest of my adventures are connected to them.

Thanks to them, I have some amazing memories that make me feel like my life would make a wonderful movie.

I stick to myself and other travelers.

I may chat and be friendly , but I don’t let them know where I’m staying and I don’t follow them to other places. People have wanted to take me places before, but I declined. I trust no one. If they tell me a nice place, I look it up after we have the conversation. You can get to know how they live without befriending.

I still have an amazing time and amazing memories. I feel like I’m living my best life and always love traveling. I have friends in many different countries so I ask them whenever I have questions.

Usually, I'd have a conversation with a local about what I'm curious about.

And, usually, there is a tendency that the conversations get the interest of other locals and other travelers.

Quite often, we (the travelers) would be invited join in a community feast or a family dinner.

Fast forward a few weeks, we all find ourselves messaging each other and being thankful we all met.

Some of have kept in touch and have even traveled together and met more friends in new places.

It has been a very long time since I have been anywhere but I did meet some of the locsls. I went to Florida for spring break and met people from all over the country.

Locals. I don't do resorts or touristy areas. Off the beaten path spots and supporting small local family owned eateries. I love being immersed in other cultures.

I prefer to keep to myself but the locals who work around the town often find me friendly/inviting so they come over and give advice about the city.

I'd like to befriend locals, but more often then not, I find myself befriending other tourists. I think it's easier to befriend other tourists, because you have more in common.
