I've seen Mt Everest... from a plane... flying from Amsterdam to Hong Kong, several years ago.

From the ground... That would be Mount Marcy, the tallest in New York State.

When I flew from Dubai to S. Korea they made a big dogleg around the Himalayas so didn't see them. Though it was mostly at night so might not have mattered.

@zagor Planes don't fly over the Himalayas, since they could not get down to 10 thousand feet if they lost pressurization. My flight did fly close enough, though, to see the mountains in the distance, and it was daylight.
