I am about 10 miles from the Blue Hills. It is not much of a mountain but it does have ski trails.
Foel Cwmcerwyn (Bald hill of Cerwyn valley) in the Preseli Hills 536m is the nearest high point but falls short of technically qualifying as a mountain. Otherwise I've got to drive east to Bannau Brycheiniog or north to Eryri for "proper" mountains.

It's flat land here, few hills but not higher than 500 m. Next mountain is 900 km away.

The largest mountain in the Bay Area is Mt. Diablo, which, by the way, was the inspiration for the name of the Blizzard game. The original development team was located in Walnut Creek, before their company was acquired by Blizzard.
