Are black people frightened of the countryside?

According to an article in the daily mail, black people are frightened of the British countryside seeing it as a "white space". They feel it's unwelcoming to blacks and they feel out of place.

Now I live in the countryside close to well known tourist towns. Occasionally I'll see a black person in town on holiday or on the beach but I never see them in the countryside.

Now this isn't America, we don't have red necks out looking for a lynching or the divide you get in the States. It's safe here. So thoughts, are black people really scared to visit the countryside?

Aside from that, I know some mixed and black folks and I’ve grown up around a few and I just can understand I don’t have to know or be them, but I do understand the biggest deterrent would be

a tie between:

food/ cuisine/ shops that provide southern/ black rooted cultures foods and southern black American foods: fried chicken. Corn bread. Buffalo wings with ranch. American branded Cheetos but spicy flavor. Watermelon. Some seafood. Spicy and anything hot. Greasy. Fried. Juice. Fats. Lots of it and English from the uk rarely have foods like that let alone American brands. Is it a good thing or bad thing I can’t say and I won’t but this is the one side of the coin as to why they wouldn’t want to be in the country of the uk in particular.

Blacks in most cases than not are very community oriented so they’ll want…. Other blacks and not just any but some who they can relate to and most friends and family.

Back to the coin- the other side of it is weather. More often than not, a majority of blacks will like warmer weather or something in between. It’s not a race thing. It’s just what they’ve grown up in and honestly I know a lot of Caucasians who are up north near Canada but will travel and some have relocated to warmer climates in the us, such as Florida. It’s just more ideal. Most people favor warmth than cold, so there’s high chances Americans in general, would visit the uk in the summer months or Australia before they head off to the uk.

It’s an acquired taste for grey clouds, wet cement, little cultural and color diversity, as well as mild cuisines and many items on the menu which they never even heard of or are unfamiliar because of the different name. It can be confusing.

Blacks like convenience and comfort. This isn’t foreign to a handful of people regardless of background or origin, but since this is the case for a large number of this demographic, it means they’re going to want warm things.

Back to the history bit. I don’t think any of the blacks wanted to go to the uk at all to begin with… lol so if they have the choice, I honestly think they’ll skip it.

My half sister (black/ English/ American/ Hispanic) has personally enjoyed traveling to Tokyo for the experience and exposure to a culture she was fond of, but other than that, she’s mostly traveled to the tropics. Barbados. Etc.

Her father and his wife have, many times, been to the Caribbean.

If anyone goes to the uk, it’s probably going to be warmer months, and going for the city sightings that attract them. Unless the person themselves, enjoys brisk weather, country lands, and learning more about wildlife than city life.

Can only answer for america. But yeah we tend to cautious going to the woods, or backwoods country areas. More likely to find racists there, who would shoot you for being black.

We had a guy try to deliver furniture in a country location here and was held at gun point by the house owner, telling him ni%@ers ain't allowed on his property. He refused the delivery because as he put it "ni%@er hands ruined his furniture"

This white dude i know drove me through a wood area warned me not to come here at night or alone, because they got a kkk meeting house in the woods back there.

I remember some years ago your government was trying to encourage more black people to visit your national parks, and the U. S. was doing the same thing. I'm not sure about fear, but I have noticed that black people don't seem to have much interest in exploring the outdoors. They're more city folk. I will say that there are black people in the U. S. who have this impression that certain parts of the South are unwelcoming to their kind.

As for the U. K., maybe it's not so much fear as discomfort. As a White person, I've felt uncomfortable visiting black majority areas as well. I don't hold anything against them, as it's natural for people to feel more comfortable around their own kind. But if they somehow have this impression that they're gonna get beaten or called an "N worder" if they venture into these places, I think that's just Labour Party propaganda.

But in the U. S., a lot of country folks don't like outsiders in general, and it has nothing to do with race. Even as a White person, I've felt uncomfortable in certain rural parts of America.

Well, now, I'm from the South and you make it sound like we're a bunch of racists. That's not really how it is. See, we got along great with slaves down here, until the North wanted to take them. So, we won the Civil War by pretending to surrender and then shooting Abe Lincoln and taking over the government. Next we passed State and local laws to keep the blacks from doing white things. In other words, racism is really something that was invented to keep our slaves, who we actually love. It's rather strange and ironic, I know. But that being said, the best way to keep blacks off your property in the modern world is to plant huge fields of cotton on it. They won't come near it nowadays.

This has been going on forever, I really don’t understand why it’s like that. Even a trip to Cannock, Wyre Forest, Aran Forest etc mountain biking you might see 3 or 4 non whites. I go hiking in the lakes, Cairngorms and even less non whites. It’s definitely not a racism thing. Rural people will slag off townies which is fair but that’s about it.

Not here. I live in rural county in Florida that is 60% black. Been like that since the Civil War. They ain't afraid of nothing. And we whites don't go out at night. its freaking AFRICA in some parts. I shit you not.
