What do you think happened to Malaysia Airlines MH370?

It crashed in the Indian Ocean.
Why it crashed is anyone's guess HOWEVER...
It's flight path reminds me of what happened with Payne Stewart, the golfer who died in a plane crash in 1999. In that case, the small jet that he was a passenger in was not adequately pressurized so, while the plane could fly fine on autopilot, everyone on board went unconscious due to hypoxia (oxygen deprivation) [*]. So, while no one was actually flying the plane, it just kept flying until it ran out of fuel and crashed in South Dakota.
[*] I went to look at the map of the flight path and that is very reminiscent of a hypoxia event because the plane changed path sharply only 16 minutes into the flight. Indeed, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said that a hypoxia event was the most likely cause:

Pressure Loss Is Explored in Vanishing of Jetliner
By Keith Bradsher
June 26, 2014
CANBERRA, Australia — Nearly four months after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 vanished into the night, Australian transportation officials said in a report on Thursday that the plane kept flying until it ran out of fuel, most likely because the cockpit crew had become unresponsive, perhaps because of oxygen deprivation.
...
Evidence of an unresponsive crew as the plane flew south for more than five hours includes the loss of radio communications, a long period with no maneuvering of the aircraft, a steady cruise altitude and eventual fuel exhaustion and descent, the report said. It added that this could have been caused by hypoxia, or oxygen deprivation, among the cockpit crew.
“Given these observations, the final stages of the unresponsive crew/hypoxia event type appeared to best fit the available evidence for the final period of MH370’s flight when it was heading in a generally southerly direction,” the document said.
Hypoxia occurs when a plane loses air pressure and the pilots, lacking adequate oxygen, become confused and incapable of performing even basic manual tasks, though they continue to feel confident in their own abilities.

Don't airplanes have oxygen masks which deploys automatically in such cases?
@Tstrbrainer The oxygen only lasts for minutes. In a depressurization event, the oxygen drops, but then the pilots (after having put on their oxygen masks) are to fly the plane below 10,000 feet which is an altitude at which you can breathe and get sufficient oxygen without a mask. But, if the depressurization is slow, like a leak, then the oxygen content could gradually fall and people would fall asleep (and die) from hypoxia.
Thanks for clarifying
This is from that same NYT article and starts immediately after the "Hypoxia occurs when a plane loses air pressure..." paragraph that I copied and is above.

Pilots are trained to put on oxygen masks immediately if an aircraft suffers depressurization; their masks have only an hour’s air supply, however. The plane, with 239 people aboard, made its turn south toward the Indian Ocean about an hour after it stopped responding to air traffic controllers. It is believed to have crashed somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean off the western coast of Australia. Australian officials have been coordinating the search.
Passengers’ masks have only a few minutes of oxygen, based on the theory that the pilot of a troubled plane will quickly descend to an altitude at which there is little need for a supplemental air supply.
The report added that the theory of an unresponsive crew possibly suffering from hypoxia was an operating assumption for the search and was not meant to infringe on Malaysia’s authority as the government responsible for conclusively identifying a cause for the loss of the plane.
There is no consensus among investigators, even within the Australian government, on the hypoxia or unresponsive-crew theory. Angus Houston, the retired head of the Australian military who is overseeing the country’s search, said in a telephone interview this month that he assumed that the flight had been on autopilot even if a conscious pilot had been at the controls. That is because a Boeing 777 is a very difficult plane to fly manually.
Other officials, who insisted on anonymity because of the diplomatic sensitivity of the issue with Malaysia and China — most of the flight’s passengers were Chinese — said some investigators still leaned toward the possibility that one of the pilots deliberately flew the plane to the southern Indian Ocean in a suicide mission that also killed everyone else aboard.
Advocates of the hypoxia theory argue that pilot suicide cases tend to involve pilots who crashed their planes suddenly, not after hours of flight. A clinical psychologist advising the investigation has been very skeptical of the suicide theory, saying it would be highly unusual for a suicidal person to proceed with such a deadly plan over many hours, investigators said.
Depressurization of an aircraft can occur from mechanical failure, an attempted hijacking or many other causes. If a plane undergoes gradual depressurization, pilots do not necessarily notice that they are losing oxygen, and with it, their mental clarity. Masks are supposed to deploy automatically with a loss of air pressure, but they need to be fitted properly for a full flow of oxygen.

Aren't airplanes thoroughly inspected before each flight?
@Tstrbrainer No. Certain things are inspected, but, generally no for the same reason you don't inspect your car before each drive.
Okay

As for the vanishing of Malaysia Airlines 370 anything is possible & nothing is impossible until ruled out & it’s still a mystery to this day.
Ten years ago Malaysia Airlines 370 made headlines & where I work it opened up a new case & it opened up one hell of a discussion between me & my conspiracy expert & although he’s retired this is one case that probably won’t retire for years to come.
Some say whatever goes up must come down & in this case whatever goes up went up & isn’t going to come down. On the other hand whatever goes up came down & was force landed at Diego Garcia.
Like Amelia Earhart’s airplane did it plunge into the abyss or did it take a journey to a distant star or a journey in time?
Some say Malaysia Airlines 370 is at the bottom of the ocean & others say it was forced landed or taken away by little green aliens. Is it possible it never went up in the air to begin with & the search & rescue mission was a false flag operation or an operation for something bigger? It sure is & as once said anything is possible.
Well this topic has been discussed in in my circles at length. I have had beers with quite a few B777 pilots. Although its so far impossible to really know and one has to keep an open mind the general consensus seems to point to intentional pilot intervention. It seems very unlikely an aircraft turns almost 180 degrees from its desired track towards some of the most remote airspace in the world without some kind of pilot control. But hey thats only speculation.
In Manifest, the plane disappears to get back after 5 years with an explainable time gap. Maybe it's just like in manifest, only it will take much longer given that 10 years are already passed? Jk jk I don't know what happened.

Its captain gave a final radio signal saying "alright, good night" and then it vanished a few hundred miles from the north east australian coast. Some parts of the airplane were found at the east coast of Madagascar like 2 years later. But the major part of the airplane, including the black box, were never found.
It crashed into the ocean. This really isn't up for debate anymore. Debris washed up on the coast of Africa. The only thing we don't no for certain anymore is WHY. We can't know because the cockpit voice recorder is sitting somewhere on the floor of the Indian ocean off the west coast of Austraila
Not sure if you aware but an Australia fishing vessel appears to have caught a wing section in its net some time back. It was towed to a coastal area but the net had to be cut. There is talk of a new search.
given recent issues with planes, one wonders if a component failed, they lost pressure and couldn't recover.
someday Stephen Spielberg will find the plane and solve the puzzle.
I think they lost pressure and the flight crew failed to get their emergency oxygen working. After turning back toward the runway, they all lost consciousness and flew on into the night.
It vanished into the 'Twilight Zone', a parallel universe where the craziness of the last few years simply never happened. That's what I like to think anyway.
It's not worth guessing as that is how conspiracy theories start. The only thing that matters is, nobody on board survived
I think the current thinking is that the pilot wanted to commit suicide and flew the plane where it wouldn’t be found and crashed it when it was running out of fuel.
This question strangely made me think of my ex girlfriend, she broke up with me that day out of no where.
so, such question could also apply to her.
what happened to gf747 that day, we would never know.
Pilot purposely committed suicide by crashing it into the ocean.
I think it was hijacked according to flight data we know of
honestly? it was probably blown to pieces by an angry UFO that it encountered on its flight.
Ever watch the TV Show Lost? All that.
Time warp or jump. Something like that.
Pilot misbehavior.
I guess it flew into space
It was illegally shot down
Probably crashed. Why it happened? No idea.
Bottom of the ocean
It disappeared
