I haven't flown on American in decades. I know all of the airlines are changing the way they handle their customer loyalty miles programs, in particular increasing the number of miles needed for flights, how you earn miles, and having them expire. The Biden administration is also working on a plan to basically eliminate customer loyalty programs, reportedly because it discriminates against minorities. 😒

Where did you hear or read about the Biden administration getting rid of those loyalty programs? I’ve not heard of it, but I have heard he’s cracking down on credit card companies:

I had to become a member of that website to read the article, so I couldn’t read it. However, I found a free article that explained that situation. Nowhere in it does it mention rewards programs are taking a hit because the Biden administration says it discriminates against certain people. It is supposedly about taking the reins on the fairness of those cards to consumers. Here’s what I found. But just to let you know, I was able to get 8200 miles for my trip to Japan, on AAdvantage.

I use them all the time. You just go to their website and click on "redeem miles" and choose your flights. Or you can redeem the points for other stuff if you like.

I did, and it was about a week ago when they finally sent me an email saying they were applied. I have over 8000 miles. On American, you need 10,000 or so to get a ticket anywhere, is that how it works?
